  1. I used to travel every month down to Albrighton from Edinburgh, using public transport, until I got to Albrighton that is where there was only one taxi available and if it was in use then I'd be walking, unless the Manager of the Lea Manor wasn't busy, if not he'd come and pick me up. Happy days. Happy 2009 to all soul-sourcers David Miller
  2. Yep, Velvelettes were excellent but Maxine Brown was a bit special, the atmosphere at that weekender in Cleethorpes was awesome and Al Wilson was a bit special too, a fantastic singer and after meeting him afterwards - a true Gentleman. David
  3. Best post this year (for me) was by "Dollarbill" (Bill Mersey), fascinating and hugely informative - love it!!
  4. Someone snap up the Volumes, two great sides with the flip being a real favourite of mine - make it yours at a great price too
  5. Great prices, especially Isonics and the brilliant Icemen, damn it!! Why do such bargains come up when I am skint?
  6. Great news Guys, well chuffed for you, hope the rest turn up to give the whole thing a happy ending. Reminds so much of Kenny B's record box, nicked from the rear of his car from some low-life and Kenny B himself finding them intact next day - well, apart from KB's Val Doonican type Cardigan!!
  7. I thought he had 2!!
  8. Brilliant idea, how about it Dave?
  9. So sorry to read this although I fully understand about a drop in sales, printing costs etc. Still sad to read that a fanzine that has been so much a part of the scene - and for so long - has to cease print. An amazing amount of work, hours spent researching, typing and selling, it's bloody hard work I can tell and it's not for the money, there's bugger all to be made from fanzine's, a labour of love and a passion for the music is what's required and Dave Rimmer has that in abundance, SKM will be missed that's for sure. Glad the website is kept running and Dave, your writing talents will be most welcome for any future editions of Soul View David
  10. Lea Manor, Albrighton, that was the one for me
  11. Spot on Lenny, top tune indeed and on the Anniversary tape and still a favourite compilation of mine after all these years Div
  12. Saw this in yesterday's Scottish Sun, hope it's not already been posted? Charlene Spiteri wants to appear on Strictly Come Dancing and has been asking Brucie if he could arrange it, but she doesn't want to tango or mamba, "I used to do Northern Soul dancing and I really want Bruce to get me on. Northern Soul dancing is a bit different and would be amazing to watch. I used to do it when I was growing up, it's really old school, Brucie says he'd ask the producers." What do you think peeps? David
  13. Fookin' class - funny as fook
  14. Great post this and kinda weird that I was listening to some old tapes at the weekend and one in particular was a tape I compiled of my own stuff titled "underrated" and on that tape (amongst others) were the Volumes - "A Way To Love You" (Inferno) and the New Holidays - "My Baby Ain't No Plaything" (Westbound) and Lt. Curtis & the Blues - Please Keep Me (?) - gave me goosebumps I can tell you. Will be doing the same this weekend with the old tapes so perhaps a few more to add. David
  15. For those of you who may be interested, Andy Dennison did a two-page article on these events in Soul View II, issue 2, May 2006. If anyone wants a copy and demand is enough I'll get copies done and £2 from every copy sold will go to Cancer Research, PM for more details. David

  22. Reminds me of the time I bought this from Martyn Bradley (ridiculously cheap btw) and I picked it up from him at Albrighton where I was making my DJ debut, I played it about third record in and announced it as T.M.M.O.L. but played the other side in error, I realised quickly my error but was pleasantly surprised when the dancefloor became busy, I never knew of the quality of I.N.W. until that moment - truly fantastic double-sider David
