I actually think this is a great little 70s record, underplayed and a definate one that hasn't yet really had it's day. It was the last release on the label, and what a cracking label GSF was.... an issue copy? while it's possible, I'll believe it when I see it. I remember vehermently denying Tommy Tates "If you got to love somebody" on a 7".....until I saw a copy. As for this argument about there being loads of copies in collections etc. we keep hearing this argument trotted out about so many records, and yet funnily enough whenever this claim is made about a record, as the years go marching on, we don't see many of these "attic" copies ever coming back into circulation....

You got two different Destiny labels there Simsy. The Eloise Whittaker had an early modern spin on it too, but you won't like it....Steve
  4. The way those dudes were burning money in the mid 70s nothing would have prevented that Seriously these what if scenarios are endless. I sometimes wonder what if....the soul scene in the UK had taken a different turn - Wigan hadn't gone pop (no Footsee etc. and stuck to it's roots), .......the better elements of rare soul and funk didn't go seperate ways in the 70's?.....the Arctic label had some big hits....the US didn't treat old records as unwanted garbage for 30 years thus allowing us Brits to go plunder unfettered. What if Motown went bust in 1963 and Berry Gordy decided to sell cars for a living instead???? The list is endless....but plenty of scope for parallel universes
  5. Play what you want! Put the pressure on the "fighting cocks" as James calls 'em. But don't play too safe.....

It doesn't sound very good today.....never stood the test of time really.

The Symbol one is very rare northern - an ex Searling spin from Wigan. Must admit on hearing it I thought it was a female singer rather than a kid!
  8. By this time we are all gloriously drunk, so we never find out

Gawd, and there was me blaming Minshull and Winstanley all these years!
  10. --> QUOTE(Mike B @ May 3 2007, 11:22 PM) link Lets kick off with this one - not sure what the record sounds like but saw it on ebay in the soul section - cracking label design, I've never seen 'Shock' labels with this design .... anyone else? B side is great slowish crossover
  11. And one of me drinking muckers in the "Snug" at 2 a.m at Soul Essence

Good point about the demo / issue - still this guys "vg+" is probably everyone elses "g-" - the label looks like it's filthy. The Colombian guy has been "FARQ"d possibly

The grading has now magically gone up to "Record is visually in VG+ condition (beautiful gloss), plays VG++." Hmph - next time will it be "Mint-" Still looks totally fooked to me.
  14. Don't be so mischievous - it won't work.....I wasn't thinking about them and you know it .
  15. I think it's a good thing....just as long as we get some sensible people talking about it instead of the usual e-jit "talking heads" that get wheeled out to talk crapola about the scene whenever there's a camera or microphone in spitting distance.
  16. Some might suggest that this sentance is a bit oxymoronic Simon Bags and vests? - fancy dress mate
  17. Yeah right and I am sure that is an option open to the people who he has ripped, and how would you go about enforcing the judgement against him Probably nigh on impossible to do it in a cost effective way. Quite right for people to name and shame skimmers on here. Class action??? That was three pages ago, but what a good idea - share the legal work / costs etc. Works well enough for claimants in the USA - hah!

Yeah it's on a blue label and has Detroit in the title - got it somewhere in the "lock up" - quite good without being outstanding as I recall.
  19. That'll be it Rich.
  20. Lighten up soulgirl. This is a genuine problem with people getting ripped off. They're coming on here and telling us so, and providing a valuable service to other would be buyers. Therefore it is relevant to this forum, and I am not sure what part of that you don't seem able to "get".

I concur with my learned friends, send it back and get a refund. VG+ shouldn't hiss in anyones book. Steve Continuing Rod's theme - I got a copy of the Star Treks, but it's warped
  22. 7" - it's good without being outstanding - i mean you just can't top marvin at the end of the day.
  23. But Derek u know someone out there will bid 2 grand on it or something- just like the unplayable ernestine eady. Steve
