Wow £370! Thats excessive. I've seen a few around the £150 mark. But again dependant on condition, why I said 150+

Always said Pete-S was a significant contributor to this site. For reasons just like this.

Yeah would have said around £150+ dependant on condition. Top tune - big mod sound. And my alias at work!
  4. How about zero tolerance to ego of any kind. Might be a good thing for some poor souls ..

Think most of my records are by geezers. That said if female vocal was not allowed, would only seem half as good.

One of my northern faves by him would have to be 'I'm the one to do it'.

Simon Soussan, was responsible for creating "tailor-made' northern soul sounds, as well as making acetates of unknown soul 45's BUT creating "fake" group names to retain exclusivity. Soussan also got the rights to the Mirwood catalogue and Sydney Barnes/J.J. Jackson's songwriting catalogue, so he took it upon himself to "rewrite" Northern soul obscurities, and making them into disco hits! "Stronger Than Her Love" by the Flirtations became "Love and Desire" by Arpeggio (with Sydney Barnes). "My Dear Heart" by Shawn Robinson turned into "After Dark"by Patti Brooks.. He had the last laugh when some of his background singers cut a disco medley ("Uptown Festival") under the name Shalamar, and it became a big hit. I think he got most of the money made off of all of Shalamar's hits. https://bomplist.xnet2.com/0104/msg01366.html

Agreed. Also torn on 'I'll keep on holding on'. Soulful sound of the Marvelettes v Raw mod energy of the Action.
  15. I'm reading down this thread and can't believe no one has mentioned (until post # 15) a key point about this record. Well done Chalky. They need'nt have bothered.
  16. Fantastic to see this footage. For a moment I was transported back to 1985. Driving along in the old Supermirafiori, with Kirsti an Caroline singing along ...
  17. Shirley Ellis - The Name Game
  18. He was blown away and so were we. His voice sounded just brilliant that night and we were whooping with delight like silly school kids. Unforgettably brilliant.
  19. Fantastic, was there that night, the vid doesn't do him justice. Got mine from Johnship I think. Swiped the 100 poster of the event at the end of the night.
  20. Yeah, looks like your avatar is groovin on down to it too. Great stuff. Deffo different to issue version. No visable micrphone though ..

They'll lynch you for calling it crossover .. That's only allowed to be applied to 70's stuff apparently. Great track btw.
  22. Superb Pete-S original poster of this. Think I did a Jackie Wilson link .. Great facility though.
  23. I remember him there during that time period. Was him on front of Too Darn Soulful wunnit .. Should be a pic of Shaun in the dictionary under 'Northern Soul' ..
