The trouble is you don't see these guys on the so called shop floor, they don't really have a clue what is happening as far as DJ's and current in demand spins is concerned apart from word of mouth and what someone who wishes to sell them something tells them. You see it with the blurb/spin on many sales items.
  2. Bobby Bennett seems to be dropping in price. Shirley Johnson, not bad for Stax B side fodder Richard Marks, great record, great price too IMO. Been a spin for Andy Dyson and Cliff Steele over the years.
  3. And it probably says made in england on it as well. It wouldn't say Spyder Turner on it if original studio acetate either. If you'd given the full info to begin with you'd have your answer straight away. As Trev said it is a boot/emidisc someone has had knocked up.
  4. I agree name and shame if you are certain who the culprit is and then no other promoter or punter should have to worry about him.
  5. That's my reading for the week. Brilliant Sean, many thanks.
  6. Thanks Sean and Mike , much appeciated. Really is a part of the scene that needs preserving. wonder if any of the more recent articles were done in word and can be quickly converted, Soulful Kinda Music, Manifesto etc etc.
  7. Shocked to hear this. R.I.P. Helena.
  8. Looks a little blurry but when I stretch it out it looks ok' could be my failing eye sight though. Is there any way increasing the upload limit (Mike) to enable increased quality? But once again many thanks for tis Sean, greatly appreciated.
  9. Here is Dean's set in its entirety from July 1998. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/bishop-auckland-rugby-club-july-1998-dean-anderson/
  10. £4k plus should be the price for a really rare record, not just a DJ's got to when dance floor empty type record. It is yet more proof that far too many have too much spare cash. I agree what they spend it on is up to them but surely some common sense has to return to record collecting at some point?
  11. I thought the original was solid black? The boot I had late 80's/early 90's was brown see through with the date stamp. I know the dealer who paid top dollar and who sold them to him lol, he gave him the money back though
  12. I've just transferred an Andy Rix set to the PC George, the first night there I think. Will post it later.
  13. Great Andy Rix set I've just copied to the PC btw.
  14. Pleasure Col, great to hear them again. Really was some great music played back then. Tip my hat to you and Al and a few other promoters who swam against the tide of mediocrity that was engulfing the scene back then
  15. Spot on Kev, see through brown vinyl for the first boot.
  16. Dean Anderson with a cracking set at Bishop Auckland's Rugby Club, July 1998. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/bishop-auckland-rugby-club-1998-dean-anderson/
  17. The info will be in Dave Moore's forthcoming book about Philly.
  18. The lead singer is called Pat
  19. The first boot which was very good boot, only half dozen had the date stamp, a mate did them. There is a later look a like too.
