  1. What's My Chances as said Gary Rushbrooke but I think it was Dave Raistrick first.
  2. He did have his own website.
  3. Chalky replied to Zanetti's topic in Look At Your Box
Paul Vann, last one was £800 I think.
  4. Chalky replied to Zanetti's topic in Look At Your Box
Its the best version IMO and I'd say 400ish too.
  5. Eugene Church "Dollar Bill" on World Pacific. Last time I played it out I slowed it down to -4 or -6 and it was still 110mph.
  6. I don't think there is any direct connection between Buddy Holly and Motown, not while he was alive. I've never read of one.
  7. I would have thought the idea was to play records that have a considered value of £25 not what you paid. We have all had bargains but that isn't the point. I would be asking for my money back if records were being played that I couldn't go to a dealer and buy for £25 or under.

It isn't what is being worn in these adverts. The fashion depicted was fashion for a short time mid 70's, it soon passed for another. Why does everyone who wishes to portray the soul scene want to depict the certain type of clothes being shown when it isn't the case except for a minority. It isn't the adverts that is the problem, it isn't those in them but how the scene is perceived to be. You only have to go on other social media outlets. The ridiclue being shown is far worse than here. I am all for anyone wearing what they want but I do wish they would stop using the image they are using everytime they wish to use the scene to sell their product.

Can you imagine, services after a nighter, all on SW, dry mouth Folk would be spitting it all over the place, everyone would be coverd in it

Anyone eating shredded wheat after a nighter would still be chewing it today lol
  11. 2002/2003 at a guess Andy? Her version never done it for me I'm afraid..
  12. Meant to say earlier but not had time, first heard this played out via Rob Thomas and/or Andy Rix. Can't remember if they covered it up or what they played it off or the source. it's a terrible version too, she murders a great record
  13. You would think whoever did these boots/mock up scans would actually put some effort into it and try and get some of the details right other than the artist and title.
  14. It pre dates the coasters release by a year as well and it's working title is the same as what it was covered up as "my hearts wide open".
  15. Don't be swayed by rarity and price, go with what you can afford. There's hundreds of affordable records, many lesser known for a collector to get his teeth into. Have a look at Detroit, you have Ric tic, wingate, golden workd, motown labels and hundreds of smaller labels. Many of them from the very cheap to reasonable, no need to break the bank. Same for Chicago and Philly. Listen to as much as you can. Plenty of venues up your way too. There is a mountain of knowledge on here and places like facebook and its numerous groups. Ask for anything you want to know, you will get an answer. As for vinyl, go through the sales boxes at venues, look at the labels and markings in the run out, it is the best way to learn. Don't put money in bootleggers pocket! above all as Steve says don't take it too seriously and enjoy.

  17. let me know what/where they are and I will try and help, had to go out, back now but just off in gym for half hour so I can try and do what you want then.
  18. I would have thought some of the later Lamont Dozier might better suit some of the casual listeners?
  19. Eddie Holland co writer on "(Loneliness Made Me Realise) It's You That I Need" simply one of the best records ever!
  20. Love And Beauty is one of the Lamont Dozier LP's with decent tracks. The UK Sequel release has added bonus tracks. Andy will tell you the stand out tracks.
  21. Try Andy Whitmore, Thafunkykid on here. He will tell you the 70's or 80's lp tracks as he is the man I turn to for LP advice. He was telling me one or two to buy a while back but I've forgotten them already. Eddie Holland "Jamie" need adding to the list as well unless I can't see it. There are a couple of takes of it too.
  22. Eddie Holland "I'm On The Outside Looking In" big northern record
