  1. Skeggy might have been running 15 years but that doesn't give it the right to change its date? It was always earlier than Lifeline, always. We've had the same night Pete for over ten years, why should we move our dates we've had all this time for someone else? Surely it is the other way round? yes we moved venues (we have had 5 now) but what has that got to do with anything? At the end of the day it wasn't us that clashed but Skeggy, they chose our date, a date that was already on the calendar and has been for ten years. As for Burnley we didn't clash with Phil so not sure what you mean there. Again why should an established event move its regular date?
  2. Culprit? clashing with who? If you mean Skeggy, we have had the last Saturday in the month for ten years, never clashed with anyone, Skeggy was always earlier up till last year when it moved it date.....I know for a fact it was earlier because Lifeline DJ's worked for Dave and Donna. Dave and ourselves have talked and sorted this for the future.
  3. I have all the interviews downloaded.
  4. It because some promoters are just plain selfish and couldn't give a sh*t about anyone else.
  5. What Phil says, a legend. R.I.P.
  6. Bloody hell that is a shock. As Pete said when how etc. I had know idea he was ill or anything. R.I.P. Bob.
  7. Listen to Steve G radio show once uploaded to mix cloud usually. Listen to Dean Anderson most weeks on t'radio. Odd podacst too, Soul Discovery. Few mixcloud regulars Ady Pountain and Kieran's ten from the box on their is great.
  8. Guy's Brenda Lee Jones - Why Make Me Suffer cover up. The Essex, named after Essex County. It was the Marines that really forced the split of the group from what I've read so not sure about entertaining the troops?
  9. If no scans can someone confirm the flips and numbers for the one with Deep at top and Deep at the bottom.
  10. Does anyone have scans of the flip sides of both 45's?
  11. £40 and yes wrong section
  12. The Faithful Wonders - Ol' John (Behold Thy Mother) - Checker Vg+ £50 Superb Northern/Gospel dancer getting all-nighter spins once more. Former Stafford spin for Guy. https://www.divshare.com/download/25620795-5fb Joe Moore - Hang Right In There - Tru-Glo-Town Ex £60 The playing surface is in excellent nick, the labels as the scans show suffer water damage hence the cheaper price. Would have been a ton or so if mint all round. Again ex Stafford spin. https://www.divshare.com/download/25620793-45b Quinn Golden - Habit Breaker - Ecko Ex (looks unplayed) £60 1998 modern soul dancer. Don't know why, I know I'm on a mac but I know windows users who have read it. Try googling Tony Colton — A Forgotten and an Important Sixties Figure
  14. There is very little that has stood the test of time though? Much of it is played to a small minority shouting louder than the others. Some of it, the gospel especially is so far removed from what people are used to it will always stay with the minority. I'm not saying there isn't any good to come out of it, far from, some great stuff but very little crosses over mainstream.
  15. It isn't just those on ebay etc who are guilty of over doing the promotion side, some of those who predominantly play/feature this funk/fonk or whatever you wish to call it in their sets, are just as guilty of over doing the promotion when selling and even describing what they are playing. I listened to one yesterday and vocally it was terrible, the description certainly didn't match the quality.

  18. Forget what I said Pete, reading the wrong info elsewhere.
  19. The uptempo side had spins some years ago, Dome?
  20. Bloody hell not another genre.....
  21. Ey up Bri... I will drop him a message when I get chance. Thorne spin for Rod would make it around 91? Might be where Rob got it from?
  22. It wasn't but Kev says they had the tapes? The acetate was around long before the sevens, Rob Marriott was playing it very late 80's early 90's, dunno where he got it from.
  23. Pretty sure there was a newspaper clipping posted at one time from when the 45 was released or about mr soul gigging?
  24. Magic isn't it. I posted it a while a go after seeing it somewhere. Keep meaning to download it before it gets lost.
  25. Just read on the Classic Urban Harmony site that Little Joe Cook passed away in April. Little Joe Cook of the Thrillers (1922 - 2014) Little Joe Cook, known for his falsetto hits like "Peanuts" with the Philadelphia vocal group the Thrillers, died on April 16, 2014. Cook was born in South Philly but moved to North Philly as a youngster where he formed the gospel group, the Evening Star Quartet. The group recorded several outstanding songs including "Say A Prayer For The Boys In Korea". By the mid-1950's Little Joe had moved into secular music, forming and mentoring the group, the Thrillers, with whom he ended up singing lead. They scored with the song "Peanuts" which propelled Cook to fame. Joe Cook continued singing for the remainder of his life, mostly in the Boston area. He made countless recordings for different labels. For the story of Joe Cook and the Thrillers early career, visit www.classicurbanharmony.net and scroll down the left hand side to click on "Groups From Philly's Francisville" under Articles By Us. Listen to a YouTube of "Peanuts".
