  1. I know, but if talkng bout a big record at leat give those responsible the credit, in this case both of them....who is talkin about the 80's?
  2. I've just done a post on my blog for the release as well.... https://chalkster101.wordpress.com/2014/03/29/kentpied-piper-september-jones-voo-doo-madamoiselle/ I hope Kent/Ace can track the bootleggers down.
  3. No I give credit where credit is due, something you fail to do. I don't deny Karl played it but I doubt you ever heard Dean play it so no idea of it's popularity then and IMO he deserves just as much credit as Karl for this record.
  4. I know Andy Dyson got a handful off Roy Roberts and they went to the likes of Butch, Steve G, Andy himself etc etc.
  5. Which venue was playing Roy Roberts first Matt, I presume you mean So In Love?
  6. Ravins has been massive for Andy Dyson last few years alongside Henry C. Paul Vann "One Track Mind" as well. Proffs finally getting the recognition it deserves. Saints on Wigwam. Stormie Wynters "Lifesaver" Hopkins Brothers "Shake Sheri" Cosmos Band "Third Eye" Roy Roberst "So In Love" Bernard Drake on La Louisianne
  7. Don't forget postage is included when customs work out the value.
  8. It's all about opinions Phil and we all have different ones but that is the beauty of this scene. I would agree to me as well some of those listed are poor but to others they are great. I love Sir Joe (both sides and the Precisions). Tommy Dent I would agree with you, just a mess of a tune. But it would be boring if we all liked the same. I can't think of one DJ, one all-nighter or soul night in any era that hasn't played duffers. Everyone has played good and bad. You will never get an hour let alone a night where every record is right up anyones street.
  9. reactivation, Dean Anderson first. Don't forget the other one, Things That A Lady. Take A Look goes back to the mid 80's though.
  10. It was a 100 Club anniversary freebie around that time originally Dave, great record.
  11. Great times Phil mate, glad you enjoyed them. Will be in the garage this weekend see what else I can find.
  12. As the other tapes went down so well here is a second late 80's tape from Rob, enjoy! https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/rob-marriott-late-80s-tape-number-2/
  13. Some cover ups... Butch Little Ceasar, Jesse Davis and his Joe Adams Stop acetate. Andy Dysons Up The Hill cover up, not sure if he has given it an artist? And his Joe Cook cover up, I think that is what it is covered up as.
  14. Was long time ago as it was Keb who found it with John Manship, not sure if Keb played it first or moved it on to Butch or if Butch found another copy.

Listed it twice for Andy D at 400 no takers. Sat in his box which went everywhere for some time. Finally sold it at Radcliffe. Not long after it went on an auction I think for 600 or so.
  16. Great lp. I've been playing the track "Life Won't Be The Same" out and about, superb under the radar track IMO.
  17. The one who finished third was the best of the three IMO, especially with his footwork but then again the world champion is just stupid side show when the best dancers aren't even in it. Those who seem to win seem to think it is more about throwing yourself around the dance floor than it is about the music. They do not even dance or do the moves in rhythm to the record.
  18. the mop of hair,, the girl with the afro? If so it is Mick's daughter.
  19. Mick Fitzpatrick's daughter Lauren. Think she has modelled for levi, fred perry etc. She was runner up to the world champion northern soul dancer.
  20. He was a long time collector but some of them came from Jimmy Wensiora when he sold up.
  21. Here's the tape listing for the tape Chris did me in 96.
  22. Don't think I have either but wouldn't mind a listen.
  23. I doubt anyone knows except those who had them? They are unlikely to spill the beans in case they have more to move on.
  24. I have a tape of Chris's with loads of Groovesville stuff, James Lately, Leo Costa etc.
  25. Pleasure Dave. Both have been quite popular. I have one more of Rob's with a few different bits on so I will transfer and upload. I also have two from Chris with some choice bits on!
