  1. Tough to get on either.
  2. I mentioned Little Willie John. He is far from a favourite singer of mine. I read that no one could or wanted to follow him on stage as they couldn't compare or compete with him. This included Jackie Wilson and James Brown. After reading his autobiography I listened to a fair bit of his music and even though not all too my taste you could see why many did say he was probably the best ever. One of the most underrated has to be Tommy Tate. Are some of the above suggestions based on their voice and the quality of it of because they are a favourite?
  3. Since I read his autobiography and listened once again to his material Little Willie John has to be up there.
  4. Don't let a few pissheads shut you down. Set Wally on em next time They won't come back again best of luck for the future though in all seriousness. Incidents like this can happen to anyone. You can only learn from these sort of things and will make the night a better night for all concerned.
  5. The remarks I made about an extra tenner or whatever in the tin and sod security is generalisation and isn't aimed at you, how could it be I haven't been to your venue. But many many venues I have been to many promoters don't seem to care once you have handed your money over. No security, promoters paying no attention to what is happening inside, they treat it like the paying punters, as a night out. That is fact in many cases. If promoters just want a night out then they should pack the "promoting" in. If they want to promote then they should do it properly and provide a safe comfortable atmosphere and venue for those who have handed their money over. If you leave the door open with no one watching it you are asking for trouble.
  6. Here is a previous topic re Appointments...
  7. It's on Redd Coach as well Frank, "Keep Away". With two different flips. Read it was mispressed with the other flip on the label but plays Steppin'.
  8. What ever happened to a good old fashioned rumble.....kick the sh*t out of them, they won't take the p*ss again........
  9. That is all in the link above, I'd already said it was the Blossoms and not Glass House.
  10. I doubt you will get a better quality recording? It is say to rip from YouTube and maybe clean up,yourself and get your own cut done?
  11. I posted this topic last week with sound files as well. Great 45 regardless.

The guy who was selling had them on here asking questions about them last week I think.
  13. Of course they can but as said it would appear most don't care who comes through the door. Most probably don't have the bottle to evict the trouble makers either.
  14. If the words about how full it was and how good it was come from the promoter I take no notice of it. Many reviews are a complete waist of time and often dishonest, I read them and think I must have been at a different venue. But if promoters keep letting drunks in and upsetting the real punters it will simply drive them away and maybe it will be good for the scene as a whole as there are far too many venues as it is.
  15. Too many promoters just don't care, all they see is a fiver or tenner etc going in the tin. How many of these employ security which is required by law as far as I know? I've been to many nights wi no security at all. Time memberships were brought back.
  16. Not about the film but connected in some way, some reading about a court case about this song. Appears it is actually the Blossoms. https://faac.us/adf/messages/150056/158308.html?1192239343 Also says it is Laura Lee in the film singing an unissued version.
  17. I've read it was Laura Lee. https://www.blaxploitationpride.org/2008/10/detroit-9000-1973_28.html?zx=c0a0043df10a0d92
  18. I think it was Craig Moerer who had the small quantity. The first few were cheap then the price rose as Brita were buying it and he realised what he had. Andy Dyson go it from Butch ten years ago as Butch said on another topic and covered it up. Time wise it was when Lifeline was at the Bell when Andy first got behind it. Mace sneakily saw Andy's copy and got one, I presume he got one for Des or told him where to get it from. Not seen anymore apart form the odd one or two since hat small batch.
  19. Andy Dyson had it covered up as "coffee....", don't recall it being Little Jimmy Parker though...

I remember it from the 80's early 90's but couldn't remember who turned it up or who played it first. Was a biggie for Gary Spencer as well.
