Lord knows what Gordy was thinking to leave it in the can, not poppy enough and appealing enough to the white folk.

As far as I know the white label one is a re-issue, is it legit? The Brown Tamla release with Picture Sleeve is the rarest given out at a release party for the CD of the same title. People didn't want the 45 and simply discarded it or left it behind. I know some who were going round picking them off the floor.

  14. Someone has too. But seriously it has been around for years but takes an auction to get wider acclaim? Why didn't people pick this up and play it before?
  15. I don't think it was forgotten about just too cheap for most. Too many are more interested in records far rarer and pricier than to worry about a little ole forty quider. It's been known and had plays for years just never really made it.

I've seen countless acts and Lee Fields up is up there with some of the best I've seen, the best in recent years for sure. The Expressions are great as well, really tight. The clip in the first post is one I took at Leeds last year, there are a few more on my youtube page. Anyone who is into live acts should go and see Lee Fields.

Why does the plot thicken? As said by a few, Keb never had it and Butch's came from the USofA.
  18. Both labels share the same numbering system if memory serves me correctly.
  19. There was a topic on here from a couple of years ago discussing the label.

I think it's a fairy tale, urban myth Simon, never seen or heard of the other copies in this country, has anyone? Wen did the Dutch copy turn up? Again anyone verify it exists?

Steve Green spoke to Silus Phifer so he might be able to add a bit. Something might be in the article about Silus's death?

Who found that then Simon? First I've heard. Shifty's came form the States so I believe.

Sorry for it being clearer and thanks for clearing that up Tony, deffo on a buying trip in the states with Tim. Keb never had a copy either. First documented play I can find is from Butch himself. He gave me a playlist of the list of the last night at Stafford in the upstairs room. That would be February 1986.

I'll ask the writer/producer when I get chance if he kows anything. He got in touch long time ago, he had a copy for sale.
