  1. Great record IMO covered up as Hal Milller in the 80's but need some confirmation as to who played it.
  2. Nothing at all? Nothing since 1982/3? I've a cd sat in front of me that recently dropped through the letter box, The Dynamites feat Charles Walker and in a similar style Lee Fields. Daptone, Timmion been putting some great music out as well as many others without going down the "Modern" soul route. It is out there! All great Soul Music IMO
  3. At the end of the day the magazine wouldn't survive with the music we like, we are a minority and shrinking. It has to encompass other black music and acts in order to get the revenue return to survive. Echoes is no different although there is a little more in it to do with what we follow, not a lot mind.
  4. misunderstood what you was saying mate, been a long week
  5. I remember first hearing this years ago at Andy's Dave, he had the only copy I knew of over here, Andy Mac I think got one later as well. We compared them and definitely the same person.
  6. I actually still get B&S in print ant to be honest it usually takes about ten minutes to read, it's getting to be a joke with crap like JLS in it.
  7. The flip is superb deep soul.

If you read the Motown Junkies site, they don't have much good to say about Liz's releases. https://motownjunkies.co.uk/category/artists/liz-lands/
  9. My copy of So Long Johnny has Ah Huh on the flip. My copy of I"m Gonna Be Somebody Someday has Drive On James on the flip. I have all those you mention Gene, quite a few weren't Keb's. According to Ady in his sleeve notes the unissued Persianettes was played by John Vincent at Wigan first off an acetate, Keb got it cut later on at Stafford.

  12. There's room for as many articles as people wish to contribute, more the merrier. The scene is all about the music and I'm sure members would welcome more articles such as Marks regardless what year the cd or vinyl 45 was issued. I know I enjoy reading others reviews and recommendations. If anyone interested drop me a PM?
  13. Betty Willis is the other version, more soulful but not the dancer Rita is, still very good though IMO.
  14. Always interesting Mark. New modern not my field so always good to see some recommendations, wish it was more regular.

Well if someone wastes my time Pete I will leave them a negative. Why would someone leave a negative if you've done nothing wrong? If you have the evidence then surely you would get Rod involved?

I did and the person played hell up, reported me think I offered him a want he asked for and he completely ignored me. I removed it eventually after several exchanges as he apologised and admitted he was wrong not to reply.
  17. Don't know about a Shrine revue bit Shrine artists would be appearing in the city at the very least.

Give them negative feedback then everyone can see who the time wasters and ignorant amongst us are.

Hal Hardy was originally from Nashville. There was some videos of him on you tube? He settled in Knoxville. He was also in the Neptunes. https://browneyedhandsomeman.blogspot.co.uk/2006/10/night-train-with-neptunes.html?m=1 From the net...
  20. Pretty sure this was August Moon though Des. Can you or anyone else think of any obscure Stafford spins of Kebs. I've enough for two more podcasts and I've just about covered Keb then apart from the totally forgotten stuff.
  21. Have you still got those reviews Steve, wouldn't mind using a few?
  22. It was to mislead or rather to keep the 45 exclusive to the DJ covering it up, also a bit of fun involved. There was a rivalry, albeit friendly between the likes of Keb and Guy, the two biggest cuplrits mid 80's, to find the next big unknown. There was usually a clue in the cover up details as to what it actually was. But essentially all the DJ's covered up their unknowns since the early days of the scene. Whether anyone reading a chart knew or not if it was a cover up was irrelevant, it was up to them to find out. Hopefully it would be a month or two before anyone discovered what a cover up actually was and a DJ got some exclusive use of the record, once uncovered often it was dropped and onto the next record, unless a real rarity or popular and it was stuck with for longer.
  23. Oh and I play it out off the Anniversary 45 when I get the chance, fantastic dancer.
  24. The original release was the Kent Anniversary release. Horace was I think the next then other Kent. Anything other than a Kent related release is a boot.
  25. I'm looking for Echoes Magazine in particular from 81/82 up until 86/87. Thanks Chalky
