  1. It was a must listen for me on a Monday mornings. Rarely caught it live downloaded every week thanks to Zane. Why was it stopped?
  2. Just a few of these left. Two DVDs. One featuring Darrow's performance at the Wilton, ten tracks in all. Recorded in HD as well. The second DVD has three films totalling just over four hours of Ernie McKone and Michael J McEvoy in the studio doing the backing tracks formDarrow's performance. Very interesting viewing IMO and created a bit of talk when I posted a couple on YouTube. Cost is £10 including postage and packing for both DVDs. PayPal preferred. Message me if interested.
  3. Is there any clue to the date of the recording or a number of any kind? The title sounds pretty obvious, a year would narrow it down if it was released.
  4. I'm not saying it is or isn't. I would never class it as a Shrine record, sounds nothing like one. I know ES, Ramitary etc was involved and would have simply thought as an artist he is getting his work out where ever he can. Plenty of Jobette recordings out there but it doesn't mean they are Motown records.
  5. This an article John on the frontage on behalf of his record company.
  6. I was thinking the same. I know its Eddie Singleton etc and his publishing company but its a bit of a thin connection to Shrine. I'm sure Eddie did loads of production work elsewhere but that was his job and didn't mean they were Shrine recordings. I would have thought most writers, arrangers and producers etc were happy to find work at whatever company would give them work. Same for Tommy Knight, that's written by Raymona isn't it? Is it a Shrine recording or just other work?
  7. Great read Andy. Thanks.
  8. Of course not, most of us know what any venue usually promotes musically and the DJ has to take some responsibility. BUT ultimately IMO the responsibility has to rest with the promoter. He or she should be out there hearing DJ's and booking like minded DJ's that would fit within their clubs policy. One thing a promoter shouldn't do is book a DJ without hearing them nor book a Dj simply because the "DJ" asks to DJ. As I said earlier I think kudos/ego is involved with many promoters and the reason why they book some DJ's. But I dare say there are some DJ's that would do what you suggest above.
  9. Who doesn't quite get it Terry? Again it is up to the promoter to either tell the DJ what he expects or give him a free reign and let him play what he normally does. Again you are putting the onus totally on the DJ and that isn't fair. It is up to the promoter to to book the DJ with his venues music policy in mind. It's like booking a modern DJ for a northern night in the midlands and then blaming the DJ.
  10. The whole point in booking a DJ is for what he can bring to the night that others can't. If you are simply going to book a DJ to play what any joe blogg can play then what is the point, you not as well keep it local and save some money. I personally think that too many promoters are just on an ego trip, booking certain DJs just so they can say I've had so and so here. It isn't just down to the DJ to do his or her homework, load of boll*cks that one, it is down to the lazy promoters to do their homework when booking Dj's. Get out and listen to a DJ, don't just book them because they are spending a fortune and getting talked about. They should book only DJs that are suitable for their paying crowd.
  11. Think the question was "has anyone got a full set" not who is close. Andy Rix has them all albeit one is in pieces. How many was Tim short? He's sold some now hasn't he?
  12. Martin Adams has one apparently.

Northern soul perfection and MOM is streets head of Life of Tears IMO. The intro is up there with the Mello Souls, a calling of the flock to the dance-floor . Pure amphetisoul, aggro soul or whatever you want to call it.

There's a few that I know who knew what it was long before it was uncovered.
  15. Can someone post the scan that was deleted please.
  16. I heard he had sold his stock due to his health. Maybe this is the stock Pete was talking about in the topic he started a month ago
  17. You are probably right.
  18. But the scene has evolved over the years, different tempos and genres have become common place, coming and going as tastes and styles dictate. It wasn't just uptempo though in the early days of the scene.
  19. Yes I read it Pete. Do you know who it is? Must be known having been around Nd selling soul since 1969?
  20. Don't think it's been mentioned, do we know what is in the run out?
  21. I thought it was about £40 for the plain black vinyl issue and no PS. Not rare by any stretch of the imagination.
  22. https://www.ebay.com/itm/251197631829?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2FRecords-%2F176985%2Fi.html%3F_sop%3D10%26_gcs%3D1093%26_from%3DR40%26_pcats%3D11233%26_nkw%3D251197631829%26_rdc%3D1 From Wolverhmpton, been selling soul since 1969, don't think he wants to sell that one tho.
  23. 99825 is June 1976 according to the monarch chart I have here. The chart was posted on here some time back the chart, goes up to 1978.
  24. I'm not good standing still for over half an hour Peter, I was probably sobering up when I got the shakes and I needed another drink
