  1. Hopefully all the sh*te has disappeared, all the boots and pressings that plague the UK site.
  2. What's a year amongst friends . Early 90's will do Thank Dave for me, hope to see you both sometime soon.
  3. It is mate, same as the acetate that's been played for years from what I can tell.
  4. The Mica copies have been about since 1983 at the very least.
  5. and during the take for Boy From New York City.... https://soundcloud.com/chalkster/ad-libs-studio-chatter-7-boy
  6. Not sure if this is the right section or video/podcast forum. Anyway I got the Complete Ad-Libs on Blue Cat Recordings and there are a few tracks that are chatter in the studio prior to laying down the tracks.... They are interesting, well they are to me, so I thought I'd share one or two. Here they are in the studio take one Johnny My Boy.... https://soundcloud.com/chalkster/ad-libs-studio-chatter-4 and a great alternate take of Johnny My Boy....... https://soundcloud.com/chalkster/the-ad-libs-johnny-my-boy
  7. I mentioned Rob at the beginning of he topic Julie and the year.
  8. most of us do take it seriously but not this serious surely....it's meant to be fun at the end of the day and all the fun is slowly being drained out of it by anal anoraks. Besides most venues that say they are OVO are with the odd exception and the odd slip up and most of us surely by now (unless you are relatively new to the scene) know who does what and who plays what regarding policy. I can never understand why this argument keeps cropping up. Most of those doing the shouting go nowhere near a venue that is likely to play boots etc and go where they no what they will be hearing policy wise. Either that or they have another agenda altogether
  9. We realise it was a typo Julie, well I did, could tell by your age you said you were then and how old you are But the year it was first played by Rob was1992 not 1994. 1992 is when Tim got the copies from Koppell, 1994 was like you said when he sold it to Mark. Like I said my mate Nick Stevenson was there and was offered the record first, he refused as he thought it was too poppy, which it is
  10. Don't mention cdr Mark, you'll be stoned to death.....
  11. I can just see the fight now......"oi you, get that Palmer release of Al Williams off, I'm playing the LaBeat copy later". "but it cost me £1500". "don't care it came second so not the original."
  12. To say you can't play an Lp because whatever track had a release on 45 Is getting completely ridiculous. Both Lp and 45 are legitimate original releases, release more often than not alongside each other. In many cases the Lp came first. As John said this scene is has disappeared right up its arse, it's gone so far it is peeking out of its mouth! No wonder kids stick with downloads and other forms of dance music.
  13. I've just rung my mate, Nick Stevenson. He was there the Saturday they arrived, two copies as you say Gash, but he says it was definitely 1992 not 1994 when they arrived. He was offered it before Rob on the Saturday they arrived for £500. he refused it as he didn't like it, too poppy for him, still doesn't like it, he'd also just paid for a load of unknowns/semi-knowns off Tim, Billy Harner on Sound Gems was one. Like you say Gash it went to Rob after Nick turned it down.
  14. Now you mention it I seem to remember those Maybe others in an auction???
  15. I would have thought nearer John's than the £400 one. Maybe £250 nowadays? Seen a couple or three go for around that figure.
  16. Yes they were plain white advanced test pressings if I remember rightly, been over 20 years since I saw those of Kev Orton's. Ady will tell you more. Not sure if they still do them or how many were done.
  17. There was definitely advanced copies of the Kent releases. I remember at time, be around late 80's or early 90's Kev Orton had all the anniversary releases on a test press of some sort.
  18. It was around 92, certain of that. My mate was at Tim's when he got the three copies. One went to Rob, one went to Gasher I think, I'm not sure what happened to the other. I don't recall hearing this in the 80's. Rob M at the Claremont would have been early 90's too. I'll ring my mate later and get the story.....
  19. Did your two copies have labels reversed or right way Nev? Sure the last one listed for Andy had labels right way??
  20. Gotta pretty much agree with you Nick. Not seen many in recent times via dealers and boxes.
  21. According to the booklet I posted in the above topic the first Grapevine release was May 1977 and hat acetates didn't appear till the following year, dunno if this helps?
  22. Cheers Aid. Would like to know a sold for cash via dealer price as I think that is more reflective of a current price personally. Used to be a solid £500 or so but then some turned up or there seemed to be a few crop up here and there.
  23. Either way a great record. What price nowadays, know some turned up a while back. https://soundcloud.com/chalkster/ad-libs-i-dont-need-no-fortune
