  1. I have the four volume R&B Indies and the first Soul Discography and personally think they are a great resource. They are a massive undertaking and as you would expect there are some omissions and errors. Nothing else like them in print out there. Recommend them. The R&B Indies has sold out though so you'd have to get them from someone second hand, I had the last copy of volume 4 :-)
  2. Been asked to post this for a friend. For sale is an acrylic painted canvas of Robert Tanner Sweet memories on a technics deck. The canvas measures 18 by 24 inch. This is strictly limited edition of 10 only. Price is £120 plus postage and packing. P&P Next day £16.00 P&P 48 hour £12.80 Telephone Jayne 07833 104147 Landline 01325 307132 Alan 07944 851402 Photo attached, doesn't really do the painting justice but you get the idea.
  3. There is a sax break John but it must last all of two or three seconds, the intro sounds a bit quicker too on what I've just listened too.
  4. I can't remember fully, I'd have to have a listen again.
  5. The sax break missing from the Rouser take.... old topic at
  6. I suppose there is always going to be conflicts but from Stephen C Kelly's viewpoint it does appear Earl Young thought a bit too much of himself and not as much of the group. Good read though (not a long one mind) and would like to read it from one of the others viewpoint, especially the Trammps as Stephen C Kelly not involved with them although it does appear he kept tabs on them.
  7. Can we please use the event guide and not All About The Soul for advertising events and if a one off kind of event then maybe an article with some detail and not just a link.
  8. Just finished reading a biography of Stephen C Kelly, one of the Volcanos. Behind The Curtains: with "The VOLCANOS" "Storm Warning" And The Grammy Award Winning "TRAMMPS" "Disco Inferno" https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behind-The-Curtains-VOLCANOS-Warning/dp/177067554X/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1331456531&sr=8-24 There is a Kindle version as well which is less than a fiver.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behind-The-Curtains-ebook/dp/B006RI9Q2C/ref=sr_1_4?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1331456601&sr=1-4
  9. They did according to the liner notes in the Earnest Kelly grapevine cd. It was to get the DJ's to program the record more. His other Terry release was released in the 80's.
  10. It's in his guide number 5, says the Itzy press is a UK commissioned bootleg inspired by the 60's Pittsburgh press. Always though it was a boot.
  11. Who in their right mind would buy it
  12. It's the better side for me Pete.
  13. My yellow of Walk Away is hiss free, would never have DJ'ed with a record that hissed all way through.
  14. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Can I ask any personal grievences be taken off the topic and to PM's or deal with them in the real world.
  15. The Barrino Brothers reminds me of the Chambers Brothers - I Can't Stand It?
  16. Never played it speeded up but will do tonight when I get home :-)
  17. As Martin said, please use the event forum or submit an article. Topic closed. Thanks.
  18. I'm just reading the story of the Trammps, well the story of the Volcanos and the Trammps, called Behind The Curtains. Another sad loss. R.I.P Jimmy.
  19. I work a lot of hours, can be away all week then I'm up early again on Monday morning. I don't mind going out it is the waste of a Sunday feeling like sh*t I can no longer be doing with. Plus I guess some apathy is creeping in with very few venues offering anyting new and having been going somewhere for all these years, many have had many years off the scene. Anyway like I said I go when I'm ready. As for Skeggy i'll have Kerry with me so deffo wont be there all night, I have to hide to keep her there till 4 :-)
  20. Is anyone else going to see Lee Fields whilst he is over here? Might be the only chance you get?
  21. one of the downfalls of life on the road Win.
  22. you might have been better served with a poll Carms? I leave when I'm ready and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. Been there, done it and out grown the tee shirt as far as nighters and the scene is concerned and don't have to explain myself to anyone and don't really see why anyone else should to be honest. If you want a poll Carms I'll sort it for you within this topic?
  23. I didn't have time to get a cd sorted for last swap but I'd be up mfor an across the board swap next time, well 60's 70's and some 80's, most what I have bought lately.
