  1. off to see him tonight...a fair few of us going by all accounts. Looking forward to it. Had both his latest CD and New World on repeat plays, some amazing soul music.
  2. Gotta agree with you Paul about "But If You Must Go"
  3. Nice Tim, used to have one of these and not one you see to often.
  4. I guess no one was gonna check details like licensing back then. If registered back then, most in authority would assume legally done so. I guess most if really into original vinyl when DJing will have to change their thinking with Googa Mooga now, or at least three of the releases.
  5. I said it earlier that the way forward will be the mod type venues the likes of Callum and the Beat Boutique boys promote. The music is fresh, or fresher than many oldies nights, there is no baggage unlike the northern scene which is by and large stale and stuck in Wigan and with all the baggage that goes with it.
  6. Previous topics Rich, dunno if link posted already?
  7. That will probably be where the direction of the scene goes in the future when the old un's have disappeared, more mod, R&B and other genres that many kids today enjoy. It will be mostly in pockets rather than nationwide IMO, City Centre venues especially those with a large Student population. Who knows though there might be a full Northern Soul revival/re-discovery in 20 years time when there is no one left from the original scene to tell them all what they are doing wrong, what they can collect and what format and how to dance and behave at a venue!!
  8. There are youngsters but by and large they don't travel and are confined to large cities. Manchester for instance. There certainly isn't enough to continue the all-nighter scene which is slowly in decline.
  9. Tend to agree with you Kris. These days both groups are little more than tribute acts when it comes to the material we all want to hear from them.
  10. As far as I am aware no one knows who it is. And I'd be surprised if Goldmine had the rights to license to whoever put that 45 out.
  11. Think Ginger had an acetate of the JJ Barnes version. He was playing it out at one time. Didn't the fact that JJ sounded like Marvin more or less finish his career with Motown.
  12. Ady Croasdell and Kent/Ace records Lou?
  13. https://www.ifmusic.co.uk/product.php?products_id=9115 Licensed from goldmine/soul supply according to the label......
  14. I posted the instrumental in refosoul. When I get home next I'll add it to my soundcloud.
  15. Ther other boot has Bill Purcell on the flip.
  16. George Hunt I think has it up for offers Dave.
  17. Au up pal. Looking forward to a catchup at Skeggy. Didn't the acetate come from John Vincent? I'm not sure about the foreign release? I wasn't aware of a legit release but could be wrong.
  18. Not that I'm aware and not according to "Don't Forget The Motor City" Show Me The Way (Jimmy Barnes-Richard Morris-Sylvia Moy) publ. 19. Neither the vocal or instrumental were released officially.
  20. Temptations "Forever in my heart (C'mon back to me baby)"and the Originals "Suspicion". They don't come much better.
  21. Original has a Nashville Matrix stamp.
  22. Deep at the top? I'm just uploading the 2minute 33 one which should then be Deep at the top!!
  23. The take where she holds the note but the backing singers are still there when she ends. This take shorter than the other one I have, this is 2:24 compared to I think 2:33 on the other???
