  1. Mixcloud won't allow the upload of CP Spencer interview as too many tracks buy the same artist, think you are only allowed 5 and they have to be split. Will look at some other way of uploading
  2. But if you haven't seen the programme you don't know the score do you?
  3. Is this an attempt to make the Proms more mainstream? Move away from the upper class twits you associate with it? The very upper class twits who were once closing down the very venues where Northern Soul existed, jailed the clientele for daring to take a few pills to stay awake? I have to agree with everything Paul said tbh. It is everything I went to nighters to escape as are the people you associate with the proms and anything mainstream. The scene was everything normal society wasn't. Something like Northern Soul should not normalised.
  4. If you need to be told then you simply will never get it

  6. Only had a quick listen this morning. MVPS wasn't bad, second track the singer murdered it. I will watch when it is on TV, maybe listen in wagon whilst working.
  7. Mickey is sending it me on a cd, if he allows I will upload it
  8. Here is Micky's page but can't see their link to listen? I know some have been removed.
  9. The vast majority were never on the scene nor still not on the scene....it's definitely sold out and has been a parody for a good few years. It's fast becoming the new Derby & Joan. Most of those going to venues now are the folk we went to nighters to get away from and I still want to get away from the vast majority of them.
  10. Chalky commented on Eddiefoster's comment on an event in Soul Nights

    Is summat appenin tomorrow
  11. They are also well into their old age, the voice isn't what it is. These bands being discussed are allegedly in their prime if you like and still can't do it. The scene is based on elitism and always has been elitist. Blinkered? Speak for yourself, I, along with others who have commented buy music from the 60s to today, hardly blinkered.
  12. Brian Goucher, one of the finest collectors who knows no boundaries is this weeks special guest with Soul music old and new.
  13. I don’t disagree. But it’s theirs to make a mockery of.

Both these have plenty of history. Bobby 150 give or take. Kenny 400 to 500
  15. Spot on...oh you missed out Divs. Like you say nothing to do with the scene and simply make a mockery of the records they are trying to cover.
  16. I wouldn’t open the curtains if one was playing on the back garden. I’ve seen one who were support for a live act at Radcliffe, may have been The Signatures, they were terrible.

  22. Blue Since I Lost My Baby and My World I think
  23. Tis Jerry Cook. Two sided acetate.
  24. Previous topic…there was 63 acetates and I’m sure it was 89
  25. It was 89 first Yarmouth time, maybe 90 but no later. Pretty sure it went to Gary. He had it and sold it to Richard. There are a couple of early 70s takes. Half a dozen or so takes in all. The BHMOM is just on that acetate and I’ve never heard it sung in any take.
