Value Help Needed
I agree £400 maybe too much but someone happy to pay it. Ady Potts had one for sale on here not too long ago £250 and so did someone else who I forget, seen a couple at venues for that too.

Value Help Needed
One Jimmy Burns went for just over £400 on ebay (£412/$800+) year or two ago, the last two or three I've seen for sale have all been £250. £100 way too cheap IMO unless Dave looking to buy fantastic double sider.

Some Still Available + Some Addiction Soul Northern Rnb
I know you are mint minus member but until you become a mint member can you do just the one reply per day to tell everyone that something is sold, not several per day. If continue to do this then will simply close the sales topic. Thanks Chalky

Top 5 Xover Records Of All Time
Think what some are saying crossover rooms didn't exist back then and the records were played in a full on Northern/60's rare Soul venue, not disputing what catagory you would put them in now, well some maybe as they aren't what I'd call crossover. Chuck Cockerham is the main one and credit being given elsewhere when in fact it came from the Northern/Rare Soul DJ's. LIke you I like reading these topics, they create plenty of discussion do make you revisit tracks you've not heard for some time.

Top 5 Xover Records Of All Time
He had the occasional one from left field, one not really what you would call a Guy spin, Matt Brown -Sweet Thing another.

Top 5 Xover Records Of All Time
I remember Chuck Cockerham being played in Northern Rooms in mid 80's, before crossover was ever mentioned. Cliff Steele being the main one I remember spinning it.

Sweet Temptation
Anyone got a decent photo of Martha, this is best I can find right now.... some info posted on Soulful Detroit courtesy of Martha's sisster Ruth... Martha (Shamley) was born in 1945. Her and her older sister (Ruth) was raised by their grandmother. Martha went to St. Francis elementary school, Sterling High School outside Greenville South Carolina. She started singing when she was 12 in the choir at Sweet Canaan Baptist church.Martha started singing in her church and they would travel around to other country churches and sing there. She made a gospel record there in South Carolina. In 1964 Martha went to Michigan with her older sister after their grandmother died. They moved there because they knew there was better opportunities. In 1969 she went to Ford Motor Company, but she still did her music, didn't give up her singing career at all. Martha started singing at Mull's bar on Joy road, near Grand River. She met Dennis Edwards and they started singing there, on weekends. After she left Mull's bar she sang at the 20 Grand, went to Motown with Berry Gordy. After her and Dennis split up, he went with the Temptations, Martha Ann went to her mam & dads studio on Grand River across from Northwestern High school. There she sang with Steve Mancha, Marvin Gaye and Emanuel Lasky. Martha Ann was a backup singer for Marvin Gaye, and she also sang backup with Marv Johnson too. Around the time she started working at Ford, '68 or '69 Martha started getting pains in her chest that hurt her when singing. She worked on the line and painted cars, and did other things. In 1975 she relocated to California. Martha Ann passed away in 2002. She never got married.

J D Bryant ! E Bay
either way you look at it it's irrelevant, just one bid counts the winning one. I personally wasn't too surprised to be honest it went so high, it is a rare record and not all collectors are after the "quality" as some seem to be, I personally think the quality is right up there.

Sweet Temptation
Just got in and had a listen and was about to get back to you but you've already sussed which is which. I've said all along (for years) Martha and Cressa versions the same female singing Presume it is the same Martha Starr we know from Detroit.

Sweet Temptation
Can't remember, need to listen again.

Nick Allen - Hard Way To Go - Wallas
It was covered as Jimmy Georgetown as far as I'm aware Russ, what I always thought anyway.

Sweet Temptation
Martha and Cressa are the same singer to my cloth ears. Difference between the two is the break or lack of it in one or t'other.
-
J D Bryant ! E Bay
but it wasn't without 2nd high bid so totally irrelevant arguement. Thats like saying if buyer "A" had Pm'ed you first for one of your sales instead of buyer "B" then buyer "A" would have bought it Regardless of personal taste (I actually like it) it is a very rare record, seen more JB Bryant than Bill Dennis.

J D Bryant ! E Bay
$1631 is just over £1k. Listed one for Andy around that figure a while back.

J D Bryant ! E Bay

Nick Allen - Hard Way To Go - Wallas
someone not quite so clued up could get shafted though if they wanted the record and just went ahead and paid. For what it is worth the record is indemand again and getting harder to come by, I'd be surprised if you got one for three times less than the Gemm seller. If I was Matt I'd get the one Flanny selling for a decent price IMO. Used to be a cheapie but price is only going up on this.
