  1. Same old drivel. Same old lazy journalism, same old tired played out records. Where do they get these people from? Winstanley has become a joke, the ringmaster of the circus
  2. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‚ divfest. Perfect example of the kind of people we went to nighters to get away from.
  3. Special guests in the studio this week, Tony Lewis and Elaine Sawetz with some great choices and banter.
  4. So how does that apply to say Ady Croasdell, Richard Searling etc? They have covered up many records? Have you done as much as them for the artists and plenty of other Djs who have covered up records?
  5. Jeez cover ups again. What pointless petty arguments. They are failed records in the retail world, (re)discovered years later and reactivated by an underground dance scene 1000s of miles away. The vast majority of artists associated with the scene would have had no recognition at all if it wasnโ€™t for the diggers, Djs and collectors. Some of those covering records up have done more for these artists than anyone else.
  6. It is absolute rubbish to suggest members on here or on the "scene" wish to keep the music for themselves. Many are protective of the scene and if it wasn't for the scene and the diggers then the BBC wouldn't have anything to "celebrate". As said many times every time someone tries to jump on the bandwagon, further "divvyfication", they do not do the scene justice. The concert orchestra of The BBC have so far made a mess of the other acts they have tried to "celebrate". Buddy Holly was pretty bad, Elvis not much better. The further divvyfication by The BBC Concert Orchestra, the vocals I have heard so far from The Proms wasn't that great either. I don't hold too much hope out for the rest when I watch. As said previously by myself, Paul and others, this is everything the scene isn't, it is everything we went to nighters to escape and the people around this the very kind of person we went to nighters to avoid. It would appear most of you do not get that, maybe you were never fully invested in the scene like many who knows?
  7. But as you well know you missed an absolute wealth of soulful material. Neither was the scene confined to just Wigan as you seem to continuously suggest with some from that list from other venues.
  8. I just google, and use one in the list it throws up. Youtube change the coding or whatever every now and then so some stop working
  9. Great story and great work by you all, keep it up.
  10. Here is the interview Bill did Wirth CP Spencer. https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/karlwhite/episodes/2023-07-18T09_31_09-07_00
  11. It wasn't the glowing review you lot on here give it was it?
  12. Mixcloud won't allow the upload of CP Spencer interview as too many tracks buy the same artist, think you are only allowed 5 and they have to be split. Will look at some other way of uploading
  13. But if you haven't seen the programme you don't know the score do you?
  14. Is this an attempt to make the Proms more mainstream? Move away from the upper class twits you associate with it? The very upper class twits who were once closing down the very venues where Northern Soul existed, jailed the clientele for daring to take a few pills to stay awake? I have to agree with everything Paul said tbh. It is everything I went to nighters to escape as are the people you associate with the proms and anything mainstream. The scene was everything normal society wasn't. Something like Northern Soul should not normalised.
  15. If you need to be told then you simply will never get it

  17. Only had a quick listen this morning. MVPS wasn't bad, second track the singer murdered it. I will watch when it is on TV, maybe listen in wagon whilst working.
  18. Mickey is sending it me on a cd, if he allows I will upload it
  19. Here is Micky's page but can't see their link to listen? I know some have been removed.
  20. The vast majority were never on the scene nor still not on the scene....it's definitely sold out and has been a parody for a good few years. It's fast becoming the new Derby & Joan. Most of those going to venues now are the folk we went to nighters to get away from and I still want to get away from the vast majority of them.
  21. Is summat appenin tomorrow
  22. They are also well into their old age, the voice isn't what it is. These bands being discussed are allegedly in their prime if you like and still can't do it. The scene is based on elitism and always has been elitist. Blinkered? Speak for yourself, I, along with others who have commented buy music from the 60s to today, hardly blinkered.
  23. Brian Goucher, one of the finest collectors who knows no boundaries is this weeks special guest with Soul music old and new.
  24. I donโ€™t disagree. But itโ€™s theirs to make a mockery of.
  25. Both these have plenty of history. Bobby 150 give or take. Kenny 400 to 500
