It was Gavin who recorded the set of Butch's, straight from the system.

they are carved, but sure vinyl carvers call them dub plates? Will have to check. Me and a mate nearly bought one of these when they first came out. Wish we had, we'd be millionaires now

carvers are the only way of getting an unissued track out there and to be honest it's been no different over the years, used to be emi-discs. However if you want better quality Arthur mate go to Timmion, they do metal acetates far better quality, about 25 euros for two sides. Anyway are carvers technically just dub plates? Just the name of one of the companies that does them seems to have stuck.
  5. I had an advance one now that I've seen the scan again, that was one sided but wasn't speeded up, if it was it was no where near as fast as Detroit Prophets one.
  6. It was 4am or so at an allnighter sat in a car but it sounded like the same singer. That makes two 60's takes and this third one. Anyone got a scan of the original acetate? Didn't the Baby Have Mercy On Me come from the working title on the acetate?

I agree with you Rod about cd's but not many venues have a cd player. can't see the point in spending £20 on something that isn't released and can be played off cd, might as well spend the £20 on another record.
  8. It's been around for years but couldn't tell you the first place played. I know Mark Freeman rates this and has played it out. Think it's one of those marmite records, you either love it or hate it
  9. I heard another version t'other week I'd never heard before. funky early 70's feel to it, wah wah guitar (Dennis Coffey?), same lead singer from what I could tell. Who did the plain white label ones, done at the right speed. Don't recall seeing one for ages, not that I've looked.
  10. Think all Mike is asking is rather than post a youtube clip post a refosoul clip which is simple to search for, search box on every page top right, then narrow search to refosoul with the selections across the top. I can do some screenshots for searching as well if you like

I would have said 3/400 quid but that looks over priced if one sold for that in dollars.

whatever it goes for is too much, fetching silly prices.
  14. sure I used to have a boot of this, plain white label and the right speed.
  15. Dunno about inside out, I know what I want to know, or learn what I don't. It is pretty straight forward though. Let me know what you want to know and I'll do some screen shots when I get chance. I'm trying to avoid the list of jobs our lass has for me
  16. When you go on refosoul at the bottom there is a option to filter the tracks how you want.... you can also select just below the option settings newly added clips and files added the date you are viewing.
  17. yes as far as I know
  18. I reckon there's more unknown and lesser known stuff in refosoul than there is on you-tube. Refosoul doesn't get the recognition it deserves IMO. Dunno why some keep posting you-tube clips of practically nothing but the song when it is in refosoul, often in better quality. Don't get me wrong there is some wonderful videos in refosoul, the Temptations one in the studio being a good one recentl, and there are videos of records that not everyone knows.
  19. it's a boot, original as far as I'm aware just plain white with bars across, none of the other stuff/circles above the bars. Different flip as well, "Not Available".
  20. ey up Bri, sound mate, likewise I hope. Nice to see the price has dropped considerably.
  21. haven't taken any notice for a while with this record, what is the latest price?
  22. Andy Dyson? He hasn't got one, just asked him. His user name on here is Dysonsoul.
  23. Might be of some use to the collectors, only a cheapie though, but way too early for the Northern Scene me thinks.
  24. Andy doesn't have one. Think I remember seeing one but can't remember where, could well have been Butch.
  25. Like Ady said bit too early for the Northern Scene. However the "What Is Soul/I Lost My Baby" on the same label different kettle of fish, great northern, played both sides out over this side of the pond
