  1. it is but it's got the annoying synthesizer effects in it if memory serves me correctly........murders a good record
  2. DJ's aren't told what to play at Lifeline James, just like you weren't told not to play the Salvadors.
  3. Like Jock said one or two is leading the way but when every Tom Dick and Harriet DJ play this, which they will, it's not very imaginative is it. It would be better if people opened their imagination to what you got into this scene for in the first place, authentic 60's & 70's soul, not retro sounding imitation music.
  4. destined to get hammered more like cause dj's have no imagination there's far better records out there, records that this one is imitating.
  5. unfortunately out of stock. anyone no anywhere else you can get both volume 1 and 2 from?
  6. anyone got a soundfile of the Junior Jackson?
  7. I don't think there's no mention of it being him in the biography his manager gave us or the discography when he was going to come over here a few years ago. Will dig it out and double check.
  8. cause I presume he asked it to be stopped is cause it's illegal to share and download copyrighted material
  9. think you'll find you all got them at around the same time Marc
  10. it was sold for 400 quid before the right dj's gave it some turntable action.
  11. what's wrong with playing it from the cd
  12. Not certain but Butch may have got it from Andy, Andy got a few copies from Ralph, all disappeared into collections now though. It was 4 or 500 then but not as well known as Set Me Free, although I think it's a better record. Should sell for as much as Set Me Free by rights.
  13. sound clip and scan on Lifeline site. Click the link under my name.
  14. Listed this for Andy for 4 or 500 last year. Probably harder than Set Me Free????
  15. and rightly so....it's the worst version of the lot IMHO of course vocal average/ok but the backing singers are terrible

started a wigan oldies topic for you, give it a week and start another from another venue/era.
  17. Someone asked for oldies by era, Wigan, Torch, Highland Room etc, I suggested separate topics for each so they didn't get lost or mixed and could easily be defined as an oldie from a particular venue. So to start it off lets have a week of oldies from arguable the most famous venue Wigan, early stuff, later stuff, the pop who cares!!!!! We've already had a superb Stafford topic sop this could enbd up a pretty good mini series, a better reflection of the venue than any cd will give you.

simply start a topic, say Wigan Sounds, then another next week......so on
  19. same track, re-issue from I think few years later. I'll have an original on SPQR for 20 quid.

pretty sure 50 years here (unless it's changed recently). Elvis already suffers cause of this over here, some of Cliffs stuff won't be long (if not 50 years already) and neither will the Beatles. Think Cliff wanted 90 years (same as US) as that more or less covers any artists lifetime. Maybe Paul Mooney knows different as he works in this area.

if it's 50 years plus old you don't need owt I don't think, sure it comes into the public domain then.Thats why there is a glut of cheap cds in tescos etc of old singers. That's why singers like Cliff Richard were trying to get the law changed so he didn't lose any royalties on his records. Holland or Belgium is only 25 years I think and US is 90 years, think thats what I read so stand to be corrected if anyone knows different.

if you worked in advertising an was asked to come up with the music for an ad (as some soulies do for a living) it's probably only natural that you turn to the music you love......no matter how much its gonna p*ss someone off.

There's already a fantastic topic in media covering Stafford. /Staffor...amp;hl=stafford Maybe this would be better in separate topics, you know, one for Wigan, one for Torch and then they won't get mixed up or lost in one topic? will keep media busy for weeks to come too.
  24. Wilson Pickett - How Will I Ever Know/Best Part Of A Man - Wicked (One of the best records money can buy..and two great sides as well). Accents - New Girl - M-Pac (just as good if not better than Jimmie & Entertainers). Nick Allen - Hard Way To Go - Walas (fantastic record and can still be had cheap if you look).
