  1. whether he's a c*ck or not, whether he deserves a gong or not, if you base your opionions on that appearance alone then you are ignorant to the full facts, nothing difficult to understand there IMHO.
  2. I think Sutty could be right, the top one being the cd. I've the bottom one and don't recall seeing an lp any different????
  3. I agree Matt, not just the bad that was discarded. A point I made in another topic about quality not always shining through. There's many records from the 80's waiting to be discovered by many and re-discovered by others.
  4. Sorry, but not how I read it Dave. To say someone is "unbelievably pig ignorant sometimes" is not an insult. To say someone is "an unbelievable pig ignorant tw*t" that is an insult.
  5. since when is saying someone is pig ignorant an insult especially when they say something when ignoring the facts about someone or something, as in this case?
  6. It's the Cutting Crew e-mail info@thecuttingcrew.co.uk and web site is www.thecuttingcrew.co.uk address is Unit 1, Millenia Park, Thornes Road, Wakefield, WF2 8PW
  7. Is it just on the front of the sleeve or do the lp's contain different tracks to each other? Tried looking at the scans but they are no bigger when clicked on, well the first one, and my eye sight although not bad not, they are not that good
  8. I have but I had problems with them before Christmas and had to report them in the end to paypal as they wouldn't return any e-mails or phone calls. Got my money back through paypal. Do you still want details? If so will dig it out.
  9. members of the public have to be nominated by the public generally. The amateur football league I am secretary of, our President is in his 90's and has devoted his life to football and in particular junior football, he is still heavily involved with Derbyshire FA at all levels. His services have been recognised by most sports associations. We applied to have him awarded the MBE or summat like but the paperwork and in general the work involved just getting his nomination forward was off putting from the start. Thats one reason I say they should be scrapped. There's people far more worthy and gone through more in life than many of the recipients who deserve far more and far better than these so called celebrities. Most have done f*ck all for anyone other than themselves.
  10. here's Kebs 20 floorfillers from mid 80's to start things off..... others including Junior McCants - Try Me... on King, Mello Souls - We Can Make It on Mello, Diane Lewis You Ain't Got A Chance, Trannells - I'm Blessed With A Love - Flo Jo, Carl Henry Hall - Let Me Doiwn Slowly - Mercury, Citations - Keep The Faith, Clarence Hill - Whole Lotta Lovin, Esther Grant, Mac Staton, Tiommy Ridgely, Hytones - Southern Arts/Bell, JAckie Day - Naughty Boy, Jesse Davis - Gonna Hang On In There Girl, Johnny rogers - Make A Change. Little Charles, Little Stanley -Out A Site Lovin', Melba Moore - MAgic Touch, all those unissued Motown acetates (granted asome maybe early 80's but as we're talking about the 80's...), Out-A- Sights, Eddie Whitehead! I'm sure we could both go on and on but other things to do as well
  11. Garnett Mimms - As Long As I Have You - UA Lp Not an lp collector but Nick Hackett played me the title track here t'other day so quick search came up trumps...cheers mate
  12. Everything was given it's chance, to me how it should be, blinkers removed and if a record was good enough it got played if not it was discarded, often after just a few plays. But uptempo soul was played and found in abundance not just the grittier stuff either. It wasn't really until early mid 90's and the return of those who missed the 80's that everything went into reverse gear (IMHO). Regardless of your disagreement with Jock and what was said between you, on this subject I happen to agree with what he says.
  13. Joe Hinton is still on Craig Moerer's site, it's gone up $10 (probably due to discussions on here ) but still worth the $80 he's asking.
  14. But the tunes weren't drying! they were still being found in abundance throughout the 80s. Jock has already said that what you are getting at is a common and often misguided conception by those like you who weren't there so why persist along the lines that this wasn't the case? Yes beat ballads and mid tempo were given a platform they were previously denied and rightly so but the uptempo numbers outweighed the mid tempo and beat ballads.
  15. IMHO the honours list should be scrapped all together but I gotta agree with Jock, too many misguided and ill informed comments (just like any topic really).
  16. I'm looking for polythene sleeves for 7" sleeves, the tight fitting ones not the ones about 10mm or so bigger. Anyone any ideas?
  17. I think you should put that scanner to work and do a topic on all the deadwax stamps etc. Questions asked all the time so could be a good reference source for some, especially if all in one place. Great work btw Roger!
  18. have you been at the sherry trifle again Pete
  19. was thinkin' the same Gavin upon listening to the soundfile again. It's an average record at best for me.
  20. me neither, never considered it £600+ rare.....or that good either...now gettin' ready for a telling off from JT
  21. Your probably right but many records are now described as you traditional northern soul sound but records like the two Harry mentioned seem to break the mould at the back end of the 70's early 80's, think thats what he's getting at, how the style changed from up tempo dancers in the main to more and more records in the vein of Cecil Washington and John and the Weirdest....thats how I see the question anyway!
  22. I think Harry means that the type of records mentioned were not your usual traditional northern soul that had preceded them and the tempo and pace was different and more akin to what was to come from Stafford an d beyond. I've always considered both to be scene changing records.
  23. Had a look at the Righteous Brothers - Souled Out lp I've got and on the rear of the cover it's stampedSpringbok Radio Record Library and again underneath Springbok Radio Discoteek. Also the number 40474 stamped on it and that is alkso written on the record label itself.
  24. I heard the band was white?
