Request To Dj's
agree with you there, no need at all to be told how rare or how expensive a record is

Prices - What The Hell Is Going On?
Like I said earlier, I reckon you missed a zero off £40, I doubt very much unless whoever was selling was totally clueless

Prices - What The Hell Is Going On?
I don't to some degree. Everyone may have started asking for it then but I still remember this being highly sought after years before then. Maybe it was sites like this and the internet becomming more and more popular that brought it to far more peoples attention? It was at least 400 quid even at the beginning of 2000's. There's one on popsike from 2003 at $1500.

by in-vogue do you both mean indemand? it's been indemand and a big niter spin for over 15 years let alone 4 or 5. Just the same with many records supply (or lack of it) has steadily pushed up the price.

I don't plan my sets either, have in my mind some I may want to spin but you never know how the night will pan out and what is required and how receptive the crowd is to certain types of records. Waffle? I never said owt about waffling, I don't want to hear DJ's waffle on and on but there should be some interaction between DJ and dancers rather than just playing record after record which anyone can do, and with a bit of practise make it flow. The knack is the interatction and still making the set flow. As I said I think most dancers would want a slight breather now and then, mop their brows with their beer towel and maybe a quick drink

Didn't Rob Smith once find a box of these and sell them at a quid a piece I can remember this being a fairly cheap record at one time but records disappear into collections and then it's a case of supply and demand rather than the rarity that dictates the price.

The £15 a pop was back in the mid 80's. He probably had a few and thought he'd get more as fairly well known but they never really turned up in quantity. I've never seen it that low since, I saw it very late 80's or early 90's for around £120 and it's been really into three and four figures ever since. I certainly never saw or heard of one for £40 five years ago, I think you've missed a zero of the end

anyone can just stand there and play record after record, those who don't use the mic might as well just make up a cd/tape stick that on I also think dancers might like a few seconds or so between records now and then to have a drink, wipe the sweat away or whatever else they might want to do

I wouldn't pay £400 + for it, seen more yellow and blue the last year or so than any other release.

what did the Tony Galla go for? was it the yellow and blue mentioned elsewhere?

Prices - What The Hell Is Going On?
dunno about £300 a year ago Pete, been a fair few Paris Blues on ebay last couple years, issues and demos, only 250 in 2004, 200 in 2006. One up there now for sale (demo) currently $200 with day to go.

I don't think the bottom has dropped out, far from it. Still see plenty of stuff sold for daft money that has me shaking my head in disbelief at times. Maybe collectors wised up or woken up and and now doing their homework a bit more before parting with their money. Maybe they are leaving the so called classics alone as they do crop up on a regular basis for what seems like an inflated price and maybe looking for something a little less known, obscure or underplayed.

Lorraine Rudolph
There's not as many about as there once was. I know still fairly easy to obtain but those who had quantity either sold out or fast selling out. However many about it's far better than most "legendary" (whichever they are) £1000+ records

Fantastics Mp3
The Fantastics has had spins on and off since the 80's.

Flaming Arrow Label
the "missing" numbers are probably on the Crow label as the labels share the same numbering system. Both owned by Eugene Davis. Was a topic not so long ago on here.

The Precisions
are they gonna do a proper full set Rob and not just 3 or 4 tracks this time?
-
Lps, Don't You Just Love Em
It's Up To You a fave of mine and one I still play out now and again but I'd buy the lp even if that wasn't on it, some great mid tempo soul on there Garland Green - Jealous Kinda Fella well worth buying, every track a good 'un!

not everyone follows ebay, not everyone has the time. Some want the record there and then and can't be arsed to wait 6 days till an auction on ebay they might not win finishes (if it's listed). In the real world of dealers, lists and sales boxes I think you'll find most copies priced around the £30/£40 mark

Looking To Tap Into The Forums Infinite Wisdom..again
quick guesstimate, MB 100, strides seen between 250 and 400 and 400ish for both Billie Kennedy and Jimmy Hart.
-
Junior Mcchants
thats about right IMHO, more often than not seen at that figure or £40. £80 way to expensive, JM guide has it at £75. Wonder if JM sold it at that?
-
Junior Mcchants
depends who is selling, not seen this for 20 quid for a while and recently seen listed at £80 if memory serves me correctly

Anyone Know This?
It does say Caolyn Sullivan with a question mark. I've always thought Cressa Watson and Martha Starr Sweet Temptation to be one and the same, Sweet Temptation practically identical apart from the break in one. It also says the list incomplete

Anyone Know This?
I haven't spun it as you say, not my type of record to be honest. If your happy with what you spent then thats all that matters, it's hardly that well known out so must be worth what you spent.
