Sure I've heard the version of the House Of Rising Sun. From what I can dig up the Songbird label is Gospel. There are some album details HERE

On looking at the label I thought New Orleans, dunno why, just the style of writing I suppose similiar to others from that area I suppose. Couldn't read the credits etc to get any other clues.

Majestic I don't have anymore and scan I've looked at is un readable, same for Lord Luther which looks west coast?

Song Bird is a subsiduary of Peacock owned by Don D. Robey. He also owned Duke but if I remember rightly he didn't start the label but bought it after it had been in operation some years. I'll have to see some scans of others as can't evern remeber what some look like

I don't think £500 to far off the mark, especially mint. Most of those I've seen recent years have been far from mint and more than 200 quid. Why you think September Jones should be £500 beyond me

Last Classics I saw went for a four figure sum. Both sides great, old Stafford spin and "So Glad" does still get played out now and then. As an alternative to the lip One Dance, get a copy of the Creations Oh Baby on Globe for about £20. Young Brothers (rare as hen's teeth) an old early 80's spin and throughout the 80's by the likes of Keb and Rob Marriott. Will set you back a small fortune as well Two mixes of the flip.

Hi Steve, seen for around the £600 mark, maybe bit more depending who was selling, seen as high as £800. Got a Soul Harmony thanks, nice copy from Paul Sutton from Brighton way

top tune...used to spin this a lot in the 80's nice and cheap to but certainly not lacking in the quality department.

The soul nights there were fantastic, most of the top record dealers always there, top music from top DJs....maybe not every time as I managed to gert a set there The nighters just weren't the same IMHO once the soul nights finished. Top marks to Chris Anderton though for putting Bretby on the map.
