  5. Gotta say it was good to hear Danny playing some records again. Missed the first half hour Played a few I'd forgotten about, Gracie Darnell from the Winding Wheel all-nighters, and Zena Foster - Make It Me on Veep I'd totally forgotten about. Still got last 15 minutes to listen to, anyone got a playlist of what I missed? Did he play his old Tommy Navarro cover up, think he called it I love You So. Anyone remember what it was, I'm struggling to remember?
  6. remember first time I went to Castaways( bit later than '73 Win ), Christmas eve I think, stopped at Gary & Floyd Zoboki's place. Came out of Castaways at end saw food van and I said I'm off for some snap (as we say up t'north), no one knew what I was on about I've the ticket or flyer somewhere will see if I can find it.
  7. Sometimes there is something wrong with competition, often an area can't sustain two venues with not enough punters to make either viable or maybe even enjoyable with little atmosphere at either. Besides what's the point in having venues in close proximaty clashing Can you honestly say that 30 venues in one monthly period within a 30 mile radius is healthy for the scene. Like I said the scene might be healthy with the amount of venues but the scene IMHO is sufferring because of the number of events As for your last comment yes some promoters do clash to piss another promoter off, always have done and it's still going on.
  8. I think there's a decimal point missing between the 7 and 5

Andy Dyson spins both sides. Seen sold for anything between £400 (bout right) and £700 (too much).

Calvin Grayson You Got To Be Willing on In, flip to Love Just Begun
  12. it's very healthy with regards to the number of venues but how many are healthy with the number of punters through the door. Personally think it could be lot healthier.
  13. personally think the soul scene is in a mess from say the midlands northwards. Too many venues by far and not enough punters to go round.

--> QUOTE(Mike B @ Nov 12 2006, 12:02 AM) link Can't help with prices but there are three releases that I know of: 1. Sound of soul label - with girl backing singers 2. Sound of soul label - No backing singers 3. Golden triangle label - No backing singers - this is a second issue (legit) as far as I know released in the 70's as part of the 'free angela' campaign in the USA. Angela being someone they wanted to get outta jail rather than give away with the 45 Sure someone will give you current prices on them Cheers Mike B The release with girl backing is distributed by Cameo Parkway. Expect to pay around £350 or more. Touch less for release without girl backing. Have seen Golden Triangle all prices, £150, £200, £250.....all down to demand and what someone willing to pay I suppose. Also on the Free Angela lp.....have seen for £50 or so. Anyone got mp3 of the one with girl backing.
