  1. It was in 1987 ran for most of the year (a packed Boxing night could have been the last). Danny Everard ran it with some help from Dave Thorley. There were four rooms, the used two, downstairs holds 700, upstairs 400, another with room for 150 or so and another a birt smaller again. Saw Danny in Cornwall whilst there on a mini break and he hasn't changed a bit. Squad was a real problem though. They were turning coaches back on the motorways, searching everyone in the towns main car park and still the niters were packed. After all this they busted one person with two grams I think. If they had gone down to the local night club, the Adam and Eve, they woold have had a field day Great nighters though, Steve Smith did the door one night, squad turned up and he chargerd them all to get in

Sorry but it has the JazzFM jingle in there
  5. I don't remember that one..nearest to Yorkshire we went was Brighouse I think. We were only babies..relied on public transport mostly and occasional lifts home from sympathetic older soulies. When I'm moaning nowadays about the 45 minute drive back from Sheridans or somewhere I only have to think back to hours waiting at cold railway stations and feel much better!! link
  6. I didn't keep many, but did save Soultown at both the Tony's!!! Blackburn and Mexborough. The Mucky Duck (Black Swan) in Mansfield another good night around that time. Did you go to the Winding Wheel in Chesterfield. Know I live there but it's the best venue I've ever been in, shame about the squad
  7. and the a flyer for Tony's....
  8. The above flyer came via Mark Randle when I was seeking other stuff. Tony's was indeed Soultown.

Mick H paid about £2500 for his didn't he? Can see this fetching about the same. In fact can only see this going to a small handful of buyers, not many out there with the money prepared to buy records like this.
  14. I would say the same about the O'Jays Seb
  15. Nooo, was wondering where you heard the Soul City
  16. The real Mixed Emotions don't have the engineer's name on the label whereas the repress from Elijah Cole does.

  21. If TBS stands for The Banana Splits throw Carl Spencer in the mix too
  22. Sorry can't help you I'm afraid although I saw one on Backbeat for £25 couple of weeks ago. Is the one at £100 or whatever red vinyl, it should be. Shouldn't be anymore than £50/£75 IMO. The flip "No Time For You" is the better side IMHO.
  23. Can't believe you don't know this from the 80's Matt??
