Do Big Name D.j's Really Attract The Crowds ?
There are hardly any DJ's with there own identity these days, mall either playing big money records that are just indemand or the same as each other. None of them I would go out of my way to hear. Only twe or three I would travel for who are turning up new 60's with any frequency and only a handful of others who try and play something different.

Soul Artists In Movies
I've seen his name too. Lonnette Mckee appeared in some 70's films I think.

Kent 6t's 100 Club Anniversary Singles
What about demo's of the Kent anniverary singles??? Are there any? Sure old mate Kev Orton (think thats his surname) from Burton on Trent, mate of Gilly's too, had demos of quite a few.

N/s
Got to agree Ali, heard the man two or three times this year and he's superb. No blinkers, just soul music. The English can also learn a lot from the Scandanavians as well IMO. Oslo was superb, 60's, 70's, funk, rarities, soul from all eras, great stuff

What Do You Think Of This?
If it is it's on the LP The Sonics Boom (1966) A rock & roll band from Tacoma, WA, the Sonics' original members were Gerry Roslie (lead singer and piano/organ), Andy Parypa (guitar), Larry Parypa (bass), Bob Bennett (drums), and Rob Lind (saxophone). Forming in the wake of the early-'60s success of local favorites the Kingsmen and the Wailers (whose Etiquette label they recorded for), the Sonics combined the classic Northwest-area teen-band raunch with early English band grit (particularly influenced by the Kinks), relentless rhythmic drive, and unabashed '50s-style blues-shouting for a combination that still makes their brand of rock & roll perhaps the raunchiest ever captured on wax. Lead singer Gerry Roslie was no less than a white Little Richard, whose harrowing soul-screams were startling even to the Northwest teen audience, who liked their music powerful and driving with little regard to commercial subtleties. With hit after hit on the local charts (and influencing every local band that ever took the stage), the band inexplicably was never able to break out nationally, leaving their sound largely undiluted for mass consumption. Breaking up in the late '60s (after one ill-fated album attempt to water down their style for national attention), the Sonics continue today to be revered by '60s collectors the world over for their unique brand of rock & roll raunch. Samanthas 2005
Cheers. Hope Samanthas is a success and another venue playing different stuff rather than the same old same. Heard good things about the Polish Club too, will try and make one sometime in the future, maybe meet some of old Barnsley mates who I've not seen for few years.

BTW I think it should be a grand. Know of one sold last few months for that. In fact it was sold pretty easily.
-
Hamilton Movement
Let me know how the detective work gets on About 25 of these turned up, all from same source. Admittedly most went to DJs and probably the reason why it got heard so much. If you think the record is bad you should see the photo of the group

Four Vandals
I forgot, it was someone on the radio saying what happened. He was doing an appearance at a night club or summat like that I think.
