No chance of it being Aussie Sean, as there was no Aussie "Atco" label as such. All Atlantic related releases in Australia were released either on the Green or White and Green Atlantic label, and before that on the Black and Silver London - American label, very similar in design to the UK London - American label.

So, can we accurately say how many original acetates of this tune are in existence or are likely to exist ? And is anyone aware if any have ever been sold on ebay, or through lists ? What would be the current market value of one of the original acetates?

Note also that Sunny and the Sunliners had two different releases of 'I'm No Stranger', first on Teardrop and then picked up for national distribution by London (in the US) .... except that the London release is a markedly different and vastly superior take than that on Teardrop which is fine in itself by the way, but the London release really is the business.

Ady Same "musical composition" but different lyrics and not the same studio backing track as "Burn Baby Burn" Mel Williams. If I had to choose between the two I would take Delilah any day ... superior to listen to and superior to dance to ... although nothing wrong with the Mel Williams "version" either, it's just that Mel Williams is rarer ! Godz is right ... came out in Australia twice .. first on Aussie Mowest and later on Aussie Tamla Motown. Both as demos and stock copies. Different takes on each too.

I've received a flood of emails saying that if someone found it in Oz, then it had to be me .... well ... I can't confirm ... or deny it ... for the moment anyway .

And there I was thinking that someone had found a second copy of Billy Woods on Australian A & M .....

Joe Richardson was born in New York City, NY on February 2, 1940. An artist that straddled the fence between soul and blues, at one time he was a touring guitar player for The Shirelles. He made his debut recordings in 1959 under the name Tender Slim. In 1960 he recorded as Fender "Guitar" Slim cutting one 45 (and a half) for Enrica. In 1962 he went back to the name of Tender Slim dropping by Herald Records for another 45. Nothing was heard from him again until 1967. Once again as Tender Slim he recorded for Veep. 1968 found him recording for Hot Biscuit as Tender Joe Richardson with two more singles. His last documented 45 was for Jad in 1970 recording as Joe "Ground Hog" Richardson. At least two of his songs "The Choo Choo" for Veep, and the flip-side of this 45 for Hot Biscuit "Hip Huggin' Mini" have became underground soul classics. Nothing else is known about him. As regards the dating of the Damn Sam LP, I had a hunch it might be useful to compare the release number of that LP with the release number of the Clarence Reid LP which is TST 3333 https://www.popsike.c...0117268585.html of recordings by Clarence when he was with Tayster and released by Jack Taylor as an obvious attempt to cash in on Clarence's pop chart smash Nobody But You Babe which hit the charts in 1969. The Damn Sam LP release number was TS 0001 https://www.popsike.c...0358675865.html so draw your own conclusions, if indeed any can be drawn.

If his grandfather was Isaac Epps , does Sam have any family connection with Sweet James Epps of the Fantastic Four ?
