  1. My Heart's Symphony : Gary Lewis and the Playboys
  2. Craig , in your opinion, do you feel that those mailers afford the same level of protection in transit as the "box" shaped packages that US sellers always use ?
  3. Just curious Craig, what kind of "cardboard mailer" do you use ?
  4. There is a rarer , and IMO , a slightly better version by a group called Rock N Co on the AMG label ... Mr Manship has one for sale at the moment I think for 300 quid ... there's been a couple of threads on "You Live Only Once" in the past year or so methinks ...
  5. Jocko, LP wise, there is a nice Hammond organ instrumental LP on Loma by Richard Groove Holmes. The Linda Jones of course is a brilliant LP. I'm sure I've seen a Redd Fox comedy LP on Loma. As for Ike & Tina, not sure, anyone? Hope that helps !
  6. Tone , I've never seen any other LP's of JJ other than the ones youve referred to, but it's interesting that you bracket the US EPIC & UK DIRECTION LP's together because if my memory serves me correct, the US version of the LP had a different track listing (less tracks , 10 only ?) to the UK because the US LP was released by Epic/Columbia in the US BEFORE "Breaking Down The Walls" became a hit in the UK , is that right? I think Direction in the UK added extra tracks to make it 12 in all (" IAint Lying" ? "Let's Hang On"?) ...

Can someone please post a sound clip of the flip to "Manifesto" by the Case of Tyme ? It's called "Some Call It Love" , brilliant ...
  8. Well, how good is this , Ernestine gets down on Bobby Timmon's RnB classic on German TV in 1967 ... and just check out that chick backing her up on Hammond organ ... I'm gobsmacked ... what do you think ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3cBhiregO8
  9. Ady, I was in two minds myself whether to take a punt on it ... Let us know if there's some sort of modern/soul/gospelly/dance floor thingy on it, eh ?
  10. Thought that there was always some conjecture about exactly who Larry was , apparently there was no background information on the guy who did "Go For Yourself" on Loma and "That's Just What You Did" on Duo Virgo ... Is this him ? https://cgi.ebay.com/Rev-Larry-Laster-Walk-...VQQcmdZViewItem
  11. Would love to see this go massive ! Was it ever a really big spin on the scene in the early days ? Flip is great too !
  12. Sean , I found 10-15 sealed copies of the Gregg Jackson LP about 7-8 years ago in a shop in Sydney Down Under . It was a shop which primarily stocked religious records. So couldn't be that rare really. Ended up selling them at $20 each at record fairs over the next year or two not really knowing it was a modern soul thing ! That shop also had multiple copies of collectable LP's by Mildred Clark (Keep Trying), Don Thomas on Myrrh, Robert Banks (on Verve with Mighty Good Way) etc etc . Shop no longer exists I'm afraid !

Loads of Canadian soul singers throughout the 60's & 70's, Canada had a sizeable West Indian community. One of the best, if not the best, soul/funk/jazz/(quality)hip hop magazines on the planet called "Wax Poetics" a year or two back did some features on the whole Canadian scene. One great 45 that springs to mind is by a guy called Jayson Hoover , does a cracking uptempo version of James Carr's "Freedom Train" !
  14. Anyone got a clip of Midwest Franchise ?
  15. Anyone got one to sell please ? Not sure what it's currently going for , any ideas anyone ?
  16. No introduction needed for this legend, but I'm sure you'll all agree that this is one of the best 60's soul clips available, this was the original colour promo film for Edwin's monstrous hit from 1968. Super ! Enjoy !!!
  17. Leroy deserves a New Years "bump" !
  18. Yes I agree, Ady Pountain is a DJ hero and a top bloke, and while he never fully concentrated DJing on the scene in the UK you should note that he DID become one of Australia's top soul DJ's when he was living over there in the late 80's early 90's !!! Current DJ heroes in Oz are Pete Morgan and the notorious Ady Harley who should be known to quite a few on here !!!
  19. Mike , excuse my ignorance but where exactly is, and what is, the "wysiwyg editor" ?
  20. Heard off an Immediate LP by PP Arnold , she does an incredible version of the Ronettes ' Born To Be Together ' , perfect for the dancefloor, kitchen sink and all 'Time Will Pass You By' UK production , was it ever on a 45 ? Incidentally, plenty of great PP Arnold dancers other than 'Everything Gonna Be Alright' ... Thanks in advance.
  21. Is that the Curtis 45 version WITHOUT the noises on the intro ??? If so I'll have it please! Please PM me ! Thanks !
  22. Has Stevens & Foster been in Sam's playlist of late ?
  23. What's the market value of this at the moment ?
  24. Yep, superb SOUL LP !!! Another one in the face to the "I couldn't be arsed carrying LP's about" brigade
  25. Thanks Mike , I'll get it right eventually. Incidentally, Pete Morgan at our Sydney Soul night last weekend was telling me how you and him go way back on the soul scene from Wigan Casino days ....
