Did you see the scan in post 120? Now that has to be rare - if there were two pressings of this, where are all the solid label copies?!

Styrene
Who me?! Is that not exactly what I said - that the split line runs right round the diameter? And not as a radius? Not exactly on topic, but here's an interesting wee clip of vinyl getting pressed at Archer in Detroit... I presume when making a styrene disc, the mould is in two halves (A-side and B-side) and separates similarly?

Styrene
Sorry, I don't buy the "injection seam" theory - when the record is manufactured, it's two metal plates which join together and when they separate, the disc is left manufactured. The two moulds would come off vertically - not slide off horizontally, leaving a line across half the disc. If it did leave a line running across the disc, it would leave a perfectly straight line across the entire record, from rim to rim, right through the exact centre spot. If you look REALLY closely at the smooth flat edged rim of a styrene disc, you can see a very thin line running right around the whole edge - THAT's the line where the two halves of the mould separate. I'm afraid, if it looks like a stress fracture on the disc, that's what it is - a hairline crack. One drop, one clumsy mailman, record box packed too tightly - all can cause hairline cracks. And I daresay, some records DID come off the press with hairline cracks manufactured as the styrene material cooled down too fast or there were problems with the press...

Jackie Mittoo Info Needed Please
I don't think it sounds the best, sounds like it's mastered off a slightly crackly JA original. Fine once it kicks in, though... Killer track!

Selling a wee job lot of six Tamla Motown UK demos. I say a wee job lot, one is the Elgins, so it's a big job lot really... John Manship Results 18-2-2015
"Whilst still maintaining that the economy is in recovery, with inflation falling and standards of living supposedly increasing for those other than thieving bankers, George Osborne was today unavailable for comment upon being informed that a single sold for £25 on John Manship's world famous barometer of the super-rich's disposable income - a new record low, which has sent shock-waves through one of the most volatile sections of the marketplace..."

Where Are All The Bootlegs/reissues Coming From
The problem is that once things are out of copyright, anything's fair game and legal, they're not even bootlegs. 50 years ago used to seem like a LONG time ago, but now... well, 1965 and earlier means there's plenty of titles in the queue for booting. I like your stance though. It's like prostitution laws - in this country it's the people providing the service who get prosecuted, in Scandinavia it's the end user that gets prosecuted which seems far more effective tackling the problem...

I didn't say anything about a Jamaican copy. Just that there's an (obvious) bootleg. Which someone else reckoned seemed Jamaican... Maybe this merits its own thread, but all the info seems to be stated on this thread!

John Manship Auction Results 11 -2 - 2015
I think it's four: 1) "A" label demo (with push-out centre) 2) issue copy (with push-out centre) 3) solid centre issue 4) wonky looking solid centre bootleg

John Manship Auction Results 11 -2 - 2015
I was pondering this exact same issue myself when I saw this auction item. However, it looks totally bang on to me - the exact same label layout as the push-out centre version. The bootleg version looks pretty bad, where the logo should be metallic gold it's actually beige and you can see pixels round it. If you look at the writing credit "Steve Royal" - it should be the same width as the name ESTER BYRDE, but on the boot it's really small print. But the copy Mr Manship is auctioning just looks like a solid centre version of the push-out centre one. Never seen one like that, obviously another pressing came out at the time. Great track and looks like someone got a bargain! PS Does anyone know anything else about Esther Byrde? She sang backing vocals on the first Orange Juice album (probably of interest to me and Pete Smith and two other people on this planet) but never heard another mention... Original: Bootleg:

Jackson Sisters On Bargain Hunt
Is the UK Mums sleeve not just a plain green CBS bag, which doesn't really suit the purple label? Didn't think there was a UK Mums sleeve, just a US one...

Buying Multiples On Ebay Bin And Combining Postage
I'm sure it's not ill thought out at all. It'll be EXACTLY worked out, to make it confusing for buyers and a few will just end up paying the extra and ebay get their 10% cut of the postage fee... shareholders happy, everyone else pissed off.
