Info Required - Vip Label
I was doing a bit of catalogueing last night (What again!!! as the Mrs says!) and one of the records that i was doing was: VIP 25019 Danny Day - this time last summer/ please don't turn the lights out. Sod awful record but bought a good few years back as a label filler. So onto my question: My copy is on the old yellow/black VIP issue but in her Motown book Sharon Davies has it listed as unreleased. So was it? and who is/was Danny Day?

Playboy Label
Think the Weapons of Peace also released an album on the label. Was it the only album issued by Playboy? Major Lance had a couple of things issued by the label as well.

Collections Within Collections
Not so much a collection within a collection, more of a collection outside of a collection, if you see what i mean. Confused? cos i am! Started off collecting Okeh but moved outside of it to collect Major Lance's releases on other labels.

Northern And Football

"Three Events Challange" or something like that. Just a thought

Wayne Fontana In Trouble
Talking of 'something much better' - and however heretical it may be to say so - I've always preferred WF's version of "Um Um Um Um Um Um" to Major Lance's. It's one of a select group of Beat Group records that I think outsrip the originals in every department, BURN THE WITCH

a Great' But You Cant Stand Them
George Clinton/Parliament/Funkadelic ...... i have tried but just can't get into it but every book i read tells me he's a genius! On a more general front:The Beatles ("Sgt.Peppers". Greatest album of all time ) and Queen (Couple of decent tracks but in the main pretty forgettable IMO).

Most Valuable 45 Rpm Record
Slightly off topic. One of the guys at work told me he saw an article in the Daily Record. Re:Frank Wilson/ Kenny Burrell. Can any of the Scottish guys on site scan it. He thought it was a fairly recent article. Back on topic. Isn't the worlds rarest record The Quarrymen acetate. Think McCartney owns it (or maybe only half of it by now ). Second Rarest records - the copies he made for his mates to celebrate something or other.

Completists

Simple Pleasures
Like most on here i suppose, i spend a good deal of time trawling e-bay for those elusive rareties. Sometimes however i think you get just as much pleasure from the little touches that keep us all going. Not rare or anything just nice, if that makes any sense. For instance.Just arrived through the post this week: Flamingoes -boogaloo party (Philips) mint $2.50 and a nice James Brown - night train (King) $5 again mint with company sleeve. Just a couple of nice records in really good condition. Anybody else picking up this sort of odds and ends or am i just deludeing myself because i can't afford the big boys records at the minute
