Ty Karim On Manships
Yes Dave I was happy with the price I paid and wouldnt have touched it at last Weds price. Though I thought Manships guide was based on prices he had achieved in the past, so had he or others sold one before for 3K?

Ty Karim On Manships
I paid approx £900 for my copy about three years ago. Though my copy is not flawless as Manships was described. There hasn't been many on ebay since I bought my copy, perhaps 3. Though the casual looker probably thinks there has been more because a couple of copies kept being listed a number of times at a buy it now price before being sold as an auction. Popsike has 2 listed. I personally think its a fantastic record and love the hammond backing. Anyway, I doubt that Manship would have been surprised at how much it went for as it sold below his own book price of £3000.

N.soul In The Strangest Places
On a business trip in Jakarta, a year or so ago I was on my way to a have an evening meal with some clients. The taxi dropped me off next to a few bars and restaurants. Anyway, while on the way to the restaurant I was stopped in my step as coming from the outside speakers of one bar was Salt & Pepper - Man of my word. Being late for the meal I kept going. However, a few hours later after the meal I went back to that bar. When asked, the bartender I spoke to hadn't a clue what I was talking about. Had hoped to find a DJ spinning rare original disks but afraid not - just a CD player with CDR's.

Edingburgh - This Weekend
Ed, Don't think there is anything on in Edinburgh this weekend but Soul in the Bay - Dalgety Bay Sailing Club - 16 miles from central Edinburgh, across the bridge, is on this Saturday. Easy taxi ride. Details on this web page below https://www.wix.com/scotsoul50/soulinthebay https://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~abdnpaul/power.html Perhaps someone on here can give you a lift. Des

The Ledgends Fear Not
Mike, I can understand thinking this is a boot as the 'fear not / fool for you' red balloon has a lot simpler label than their other red balloon record. Found a pic on popsike below. I also think I heard somewhere that the band did not know 'fool for you' had been released - boba? Its defo a mystery.

The Ledgends Fear Not
Boba, do you know in what order were these 4 Ledgends records released? Was the red balloon fear not before or after the Lockett release?

Thats worrying. No Idea, but if I were you I would retract your bid. Then bid again and see what happens.

Northern Soul - Its W**k
I know Juan Kerr, or Chunk as I know him, and have DJ'ed at local Scooter Club nights with him playing his stuff. Anyway, I am sure this anti NS thing is all about them wanting less NS being played at Scooter nights, rather than a targeted dig at our scene. It's just a wind-up and as such is best ignored or indeed laughed at.

Help Wanted
Hi Flanny / Karl This is very easy to fix and only needs a long thin philips screwdriver and a couple of records. Lay your Soundburger upside-down, with the power supply flat edge facing towards you. You should see two screws holes, below the right hand corner of the battery tray. Theses cross screws are the speed adjustment screws (pitch control). The left screw is for 33rpm play speed adjustment the right screw (on the edge) is the 45rpm play speed adjustment. Get your screwdriver plus two records , one 45 rpm and the other a 33 rpm record that you know well. Then turn the screws to speed up or slow down, can't remember which way clock or anti clock wise but with each adjustment listen to your records again and you should hear the difference. The service manual suggests you use a strobe gun but I always just use my ears. If you or anyone wants a copy of the service manual then send me a PM with your email address and I will forward to you. Hope this helps, Des

Austin Record Convention
Had a great time in Austin as usual. A mate who works in Houston tagged along for the fun. 6th street district was bouncing with the S+SW music and film festival. Listened to few bands and got well plastered on Friday night and was suffering all day Saturday. Watched a couple of indie Films and got to speak to the director/producer and cast. Record convention was a bit smaller than usual and was in the City Centre Conference centre rather than the usual Crockett centre. As such there wasn't really a car park so didn't see anyone selling out of their car boot. Less 7inch records than the previous times I've been and more LP's. With a lot of hard search I managed to pick up a fair few records while in Austin, biggest being a copy of The Demands - Say it Again on Clem. Will hopefully get back in the fall, if only to meet up with Baz . Cheers, Des Crombie

Austin Record Convention
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this thread, mods feel free to move it. But is anyone on here going to Austin record fair this week? I'm going to be there, so if anyone is up for a few beers , or know of a good party, or night then please give me a shout. I know its only going to be half the size due to South by South West music festivel but I'm in the area so aim to spend the weekend in Austin for the crack. Happy record hunting, Des

Clevland Robinson - Boy - Ballad Version
Spinne, First of all have to say I really enjoyed that mix, thanks for posting. Cleveland Robinson released four different versions of Boy on four singles on his Nosnibor (Robinson backwards) label . Each release has a different musical approach: #1003 a ballad with male group backing (Maroon label). #1006 a big powerful 60's dancefloor filler (Light Blue label). #1011 same backing as #1006 but with added bongos and harmonica (Pink label). #1012 a nice 70's funkier approach (White label). This mix uses the #1012 version which was produced by Gene Page. Des

Clevland Robinson - Boy - Ballad Version
Yeah I love this record hence decided to collect them all. B sides are good also. I only paid £10 for my pink one off Gemm but that was before manship auction, do see this one more than the others. There is one on ebay, below, at the moment so will see how much it goes for. https://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item335a428174 Although there is also a 1006 currently on ebay which if I could only pick one version, would be it. https://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item4a9e8946c2 Cheers, Des

Tony Clarke - Landslide - Chess - Question About This One
I think you are most likely correct, unfortunately I'm too young to remember the 70's. Anyone who was around back then remember anything about this? After scratching my head I think I may have got my copy from a local shop in the late 80's, which makes me more suspicious that it isn't an original. If there are loads of them out there then that would make sense that its a re-issue. So are there loads out there? Surprised the boot guide doesn't have anything on it.

Clevland Robinson - Boy - Ballad Version
Hi, In order to complete my Boy collection does anyone have a copy of Cleveland Robinson - Nosnibor 1003 - Boy (Ballad Version)? If so please can I buy it off you? PM me. I have the 3 others. Thanks, Des

Tony Clarke - Landslide - Chess - Question About This One
After reading this thread I had a feeling that I also had a stereo copy. So after searching through boxes of 45's I finally found it and my suspicions were correct. I have a stereo copy with the same run off details as yours Pete. Can't remember where I got it from as have had it for years. Label looks and feels similar to other Chess records I have. Surprised if it is a re-issue that it ain't been spotted until now. Not saying it isn't a re-issue but it would be good to definitely know.

Paypal Gift
I think if you add a bank account to PayPal and confirm the bank account, then if you send money as a gift from this bank account (not bank card) then no fees are applied. Works for me, Des
