  1. wherever the venue is the Twisted wheel will go on because of the wheelers who get there ,the music is consistant and as Pete says thats exactly what the people who pay the entry fee expect , which in my opinion and as a DJ myself is the most important thing , i have seen /been to nights where the DJs are purely on ego trips , but not here "whatcha see is whatcha get " and the pure enthusiasm of Pete and the team is what we all strive for with our venues Cheers
  2. We were talking the other day about the last spot , you never see a playlist for one ( or am i wrong ) and in most cases its " Just keep the buggers on the dance floor " , If I am on at or near the end of the night , its usually what records i can still see ( after a few sherbets ) , so besides the " three before eight " , so any ideas ?
  3. basically no one goes by book price , dealers get what they can and thats understandable , what i dont get is when i see a record on the many lists i see that remains unsold , price is inflated and probably stays listed at this price until the record gets reactivated and people want it , are there any dealers out there that are willing to " price drop " as per Mr Manship until sold ?, sounds commonsense to me . PS I have a list of records wanted which i am waiting for them to become "unpopular " , so they may then be listed at proper prices
  4. Hey Carl in case i dont get in the shop , you all have a great xmas , i know Derek will be joining you on wednesday night for your drink ! Cheers
  5. Like your post Len , i am Frank from the Black Lion Salford a venue that has grown and encourages new talent ( and old for that matter )
  6. Had expected the topic to be overun from Djs who have been around for years that are mindfull of the new influx of good Djs with equally good records and mostly collectors in the first instance . In my humble opinion its always good to see new faces behind the decks no matter how good or bad their sets may be. Charity events often give the opportunity for new faces and the old adage " you got to start somewhere " comes to mind .Not that long ago i was given the chance to DJ again ( ran a mobile disco in the 70s /weddings etc ,you know the score ) and although theres still some " rough edges " in what i do and the odd " empty dance floor " , i have stuck at it and hopefully will be "sticking at it " for a few years to come.

at my last outing i started my set well then played two bad records one got stuck (solid middle ) and the other played at wrong speed , put me off my pace for the last half hour of my set , am sure I am not the only one with occasional technical hiccups but went away and could see the other jocks thinking " plonker " .Please help me regain my confidence ,any ideas ????

  19. Dont think you will ever see perfection and its one of my bugbears ,have bought all grades and seen M- records that should have been VG+ , have had VG in appalling condition etc etc , Craig and John Manship are the most accurate in my opinion but then it sometimes goes to the old adage " you pays your money etc etc ",saw an Ann Caudell recently for £350 with condition marked as EX Minus Minus ,WOL the lot ! ,needless to say i passed on this one
  20. in all honesty , i have not really come across this at all and if a dj plays a top tune already played so be it ! ,in another life i used to run a Mobile disco in the 70s ,we got booked for a pub do and when we got there the landlord said " you do know its an Elvis night tonight !" no we didnt !! and we had three elvis records , now theres duplication !!
  21. one problem with duplication is if you are arriving at a venue with a small box to do a half hour spot , when the guys before you play half of the tunes you have selected !! , Never affected me much as i play "warm up " so after my spot i just sit there and see the other guys cringe ( only joking CCS Jocks )
  22. Just been charged £14.31 including £8 handling charge ,first time i have seen this and buy in the USA on a regular basis
