  1. Honourable, yes I guess it is Boba but to me it's just good sense and this comes from being on the other end of a 'second chance scam' as a buyer. Second chance offers are great when someone has other copies BUT when the seller contacts you and says the original buyer has pulled out/not paid/died etc, then as a buyer you have to weigh up the circumstances and in many cases, it's easy to smell a rat! For example, I once came second for a fairly rare 45 (£100 ish) and less than half an hour after the auction finished the seller came on and said that the original buyer didn't want it anymore so i had the 'privilege' of buying it at my maximum bid.............now if that doesn't get alarm bells ringing i don;t know what would! I politely told him to go f**k himself LOL So to keep credibility as a seller, I think it's only fair to do this as and when you get f**ked over by a time waster. If the third bid is too low, or doesn't exist, then it has to be relisted (which is what happened with one of the three 45's above) Cheers Steve
  2. I guess that's why I posted on here to 1) See if anyone knew him and 2) To potentially warn others
  3. Well, that's why I added post #2 If something (heaven forbid) had happened, then a few ebay sales can be irrelevant!
  4. I've sold the Ace/Kent Fame Box set and Clarence Carter EP to my customers this week after buying a few copies of left over RSD stock from Kent BUT I sold them at the same price as they were offered in the shops! So not everyone is out to make an instant killing? The box sets have gone and i've a couple of the Clarence Carter EP's left. I reckon the CC EP will rise in value as the months roll on cos once the track 'I found what I wanted' gets a few spins, demand for it will rocket (imho)? Cheers Steve
  5. Thanks for the info I never mind holding records for people but did not get one peep from him I ended up selling two of the three to the second bidders and offered them the 45's at the price they would have won it at if he had not bid at all. It's not fair to offer a second chance to someone immediately under the bid of the time waster, i offer it to them at the price above the third bidder, if i can justify the price of course and in this instance two of the three worked out and the other one went back on. I still find time wasters a fookin ball ache as i can't see what they get out of it except for wasting everyone's time. Cheers Steve
  6. I've the 45 for sale if you haven't already bagged one from Alan T

Thanks Chalky, yes that's what I was on about but was working from memory, hence thinking there were 6 instead of 10 Would i be right in saying that it didn't get as much Northern exposure from those acetates as they'd have liked? Did it get much exposure at niters at the time or would it have been deemed too slow? I know i've spoken to a couple of the recipients who couldn't do owt with it at the time? IMHO It was only when the initial batch of those white demos were pressed a few years later that it really kicked on. I know that's when the 70's/Crossover scene picked it up and it became really popular on that scene for sure! Cheers Steve
  10. If anyone knows Brian and there is a genuine reason for him not paying, i apologise for the above post in advance! But what is someone to think when they get no communication at all from a winning bidder?
  11. another ebay time waster brio.knight Bought three rare 60's UK 45's from me for over £100 on ebay and I've had no communication whatsoever from him As he didn't respond to ebay, invoices (numerous), email, phone etc i think it's only fair to warn others This is the second time in a month i've had someone bid up my items only to disappear from the planet I've gone thru the ebay open cases process and served my time (8 days minimum) and have now cancelled the transactions and got an ebay refund on the commission. Will now relist them Some folks think it's funny to waste people's time like this...............believe me it's not!

Has become a true classic and rightly so! The Real Side 45 the only way to actually play it out on vinyl! There were 6 carvers/acetates cut a few years ago but that was from the Real Side chaps themselves to pre-promote the forthcoming 45 Think they did 300 white demos, then about 500 black label issues Talking to Francis last week, he's down to his last couple of copies of both the black & white labels with no plans to repress Cheers Steve
  13. Kim Weston EP - UK Tamla Motown TME 2005 Lovely condition Cover has slight creasing at the opening - see scans as all 4 are from the EP that is for sale £100 plus postage Cheers Steve
  14. Both sound great to me - can't wait to hear the full versions Cheers Steve
  15. Think i sold this to Sam a while ago? Originally thought it was those funky Manchester lads that played it first, or so Barry Maleady told us all when he played it on one of our Soul People shows a couple of years ago?

Cheers Steve

  21. Hi All This is just a little note to remind you that we are still here selling quality Northern Soul, 70's, Crossover & Modern Soul 45's (along with 12"s & LP's of course!) These days I am actually adding something to the site virtually every day BUT in the last week I've added quite a lot of good stuff plus I've tweaked prices all across the site. Many of the new 45's are single copies, so best to get in and have a good early look? There's lots of original US & UK 45's from £5 to £500 PLUS I cherry-pick the best of the new previously unreleased 45's for you and the two latest 45's by Darrow Fletcher (Kent) and the Hitsville London EP (Acid Jazz) have been strong sellers over the last couple of weeks. As always the majority of the newly added 45's are on the 'Just Arrived' 'Front Page Focus' 'Second Page Focus' & 'Rare Soul 45's' pages BUT we still add 45's to ALL parts of the site ALL the time as we strive to give the BEST value for money ANYWHERE on the internet. Simply visit www.soulmusic.co.uk and the rest is easy. As always, you can see and hear any 45 before you buy. AS A COLLECTOR MYSELF I HATE IT WHEN A WEBSITE HAS A GUZILLION RECORDS SPREAD OVER HUNDREDS OF PAGES! ON WWW.SOULMUSIC.CO.UK YOU WILL ONLY FIND 30 OR SO HANDPICKED 45'S ON EACH PAGE, SO EVEN WITH SOUNDCLIPS IT DOES NOT TAKE LONG TO WHIZZ THROUGH THEM! Go on, have a look, you know you want to J Cheers Steve Plumb 2nd April 2012
  22. Hi Rod Thanks for the info Although i went to Wigan in the early days, i didn't go too much in 1979 so to find out 'It's love baby' was played there is a bit of a revelation to me! This is the first time I've ever heard anyone say that, so I tip me hat off to you and note that 'you live and learn' Cheers Steve
  23. Hi Nick/Chris Hope you're well chaps? I remember folks playing the faster track (which i only thought was OK) but first came across 'It's love baby' later via RS. Much the better track imho and a total classic if ever there was one! Actually, have also heard folks play 'follow me' from the LP too! Was lucky enough on a couple of occasions to get into Yanks on the day of a delivery.................going thru them virginal unopened boxes was heaven! Cheers Steve
  24. Hiya It would be interesting to know who played TW first? I remember Richard making it huge in the North West, particularly at his Halfway House nights in the mid 80's? Brilliant track from an LP which seems to have always been in-demand. I remember selling a handful at £25 each in the mid 80's. Arthur must have been selling them before this i guess? Cheers Steve
  25. Great thread this with loads of accurate info from a whole load of knowledgeable folks on here I remember selling 'Rare Groove' to the London crowd in the mid-eighties, then 'Two Step' in the mid/late 80's well before it got any exposure in the North. Think we hadn't a clue what we were selling so we had lots of Londoners filling their boots and snaffling Jackson Sisters on Mums etc for a couple of quid Generalising a bit here but from a Northern (geographically not musically) perspective, I think it has been said that the Richard Searling/Dean/Parkers axis (and possibly Colin Curtis@Berlin before them) lifted the best of the Two Step scene (Arnold Blair, Leroy Hutson etc) and introduced them to the 'Modern Scene' (as was) in the North in the mid/late 80's which also coincided with the early Berwick/Morecambe/Fleetwood/Southport weekenders which had folks attending from all over the UK which then caused a cross pollination of genres for many of the different Soul/Funk/Jazz/House scenes at the time (but maybe not the Northern Scene!). Great thread
