Been watching this thread some interesting posts.. I'm 18 I collect originals and I think the way I got spots was attending venues and supporting them regulary also posting my buys on facebook.. seems to me a lot of "young'uns"join the scene whack on some baggies "tw@ pants" buy a load of boots of tunes that arent really that hard.. To me thats laziness and shows no dedication nor passion for the music.. No.1 rule for those who want to become DJ's dont be playing boots of tunes the big boys have..

Im 18 and from north wales brought up on oldies so I prefer to hear the fresher sounds and also collect the lesser known quality tunes that people dont know... I also DJ had a good few spots at events like lowton and prestatyn weekender 2014 and play OVO.... Ive been educated and helped out along the way by top DJ's like kev murphy, andy dyson, Paul shirley, mark speakman and a few others.. I travel to venues all over the shop actually I was in radcliffe a few hours ago listening to quality rare soul sounds... and I have nothing but respect to all those who were doing the same thing as I am when you were my age maybe younger (naughty!).. I dance to what I feel not throw myself about like im allergic to music and I dont wear those dreadful tw*t pants haha.. also I do not enter dance comps because I think it should be the older soulies which have kept the scene going and made the scene what it is today.... cheers calvin.

Agree with you there it is nice to have a mix venues like radcliffe and lowton this goes down really well! But where do you draw the line between the two I was DJ'ing at a niter few weeks back I was playing case of tyme manifesto as I was asked to play oldies ,a woman approached me and asked me to play something they know she asked me for out on the floor! After my spot of full on oldies I was told by the person who runs the venue that I could of played more oldies. They don't come more oldies than tunes like crazy baby, such misery and never the less which I played.

I attended this event and loved your spot and I'm 18 so as for the "young crowd" wanting oldies not all of us are trying to relive the dream haha. Personally I'd rather attend venues like grumpys and hear things like the imperial C's- someone tell her or the magnetics- lady in green because you don't hear them everywhere you go. Also for some reason hearing the rarer stuff like margaret little- love finds a way or the prophets-one gold piece thrills me because of how rare they are and that people like phil and the rest of the grumpys crowd spend a lot of money which shows there dedication to the music! But i think that some people should open there eyes to see that its not just the same old battered oldies and that there are tunes which in my opinion are ten times better! cheers calvin

I bought a record from the states was about 3 weeks later I thought that should be here by now! no sign went on and used the tracker turns out it was in Washington the took about 4 days for it to finally show up
