  1. Sold one of these to a "name" UK dealer recently so guess getting spins, but what almost nobody seems to have picked up on is that it as well as on this Florida label, it also came out on a NYC label with a totally different artist credited, identical recording, have a spare of a minter for $100 which is less than half the JMA one has been going for for the 1st person who PM's
  2. Before the Eccentric Soul comp I'd venture close to nobody knew about this 45 so the person who won the earlier one on popsike a year was way ahead of the curve, wish popsike showed winners' names! Haven't heard of anyone else here or on the funk board having one.....
  3. Duh, why did I call you Christian?? Yes congrats on finding one Seb, agree there's not many floating around anywhere, none of the New York boys of girls here have one, nor do any of my contacts across the States to date, funny that such an established artist could have something this good slip thru the net, even if was before her more known stuff.
  4. That's the book value alright but got a M- one off ebay earlier this year for just $150, not showing up on popsike but none of the one's there got up to uk300 either so shop around!!! Saw one at Allentown record fair for $400 last weekend, don't think it sold. Great 45!
  5. Roosters a 70's reissue (horrible label too), Tarpon is the legit
  6. Yes, killer killer 45 and dog rare, she was only 15 when she cut it but she just destroys, when the Eccentric Soul people did their Florida comps even the label owners couldn't locate a copy, they finally borrowed one from Jeff Lemlich down there if I remember rightly. I see from playlists that Christian on your side of the water has one. I have 2 copies, a stone mint one I had pulled from an auction earlier this year ( ) and just this week won an ebay copy of Craig Moerer's, only listed as G visually but stated plays great and from the sound sample think was worth the risk, got it for a steal for the trades box so fingers crossed. Incidentally, that auction said was her 1st single but is her 2nd. Good luck!
  7. have a minter in my Allentown box for those of you who'll be there tomorrow.....
  8. Nice work on the acetate Boba! Thanks for the pointers, putting one in the sales/trade box for Allentown this weekend, have long said that USA is the one label would love to have a run of, insane mixture of great stuff all across the board on it and then some.
  9. Anyone with an idea on current value, see an old list here from 2005 with one for 300 euros, but that's the same list that describes Lil Gray - Are you foolin' as a funk record ( ) so not sure how to take that!!
  10. He'd have done a lot better offering the 2nd copy to the 2nd highest bidder on the first auction, would have avoided a whole 2nd set of ebay fees for a start which is not to be sniffed at, plus usually the first time something super rare comes up in a while goes for more than a second one, ah well, long as Lester Tipton doesn't become the new Clara Hardy, ahem!
  11. We've just booked Dean to play his first hometown NYC gig since 1965!! Saturday Sep27th if any of you happen to be Stateside, you can check out the details here: www.myspace.com/digdeepernyc
  12. Offers? Trade? Come on, Times Square had quantity on this until v recently at all of $30, mint, there's a cheap one still sitting on Gemm for $27.50, super common record here you see at most every record fair, there'll be a cheap one in my sales box for anyone coming to Allentown
  13. I found one of these in one of my boxes when pulling some sales stuff, didn't remember it so gave it a quick spin and promptly put in the playbox, great little 45 and not one that pops up much as you say
  14. Think Allentown is on Sep 20th whereas our Sep night is the 27th (we're the 4th Saturday). Hey we've put up a live recording from Saturday's show w/ Tami Lynn, check it out here: www.myspace.com/digdeepernyc
  15. Yes Ady gave us a couple of #'s but no good, he lost his phone which had an up to date # on it!
  16. Hi, we run a monthly night in Brooklyn, New York and are trying to contact Darrow Fletcher to try fly him in for a show but are having trouble finding an up-to-date phone number or email for him, anyone who can help us put this soul legend on stage here would be much appreciated, Regards, Michael
  17. Haha have one of those too, Eddie Holland and the Chipmunks more like!
  18. Agree with Jon, super loud and clear sound, I'd return that one Seb!
  19. This 45 is really old news on the mod/garage scene, talking 10+ years easily since I used to play it out, just a little sad as the main force behind the music, Lobby Loyde, died only last year of lung cancer, am sure would have totally cracked him up to see one of his 45's being auctioned on a "rare soul" site, he was actually a seriously big influence on most Australian bands from 65 onwards, right up to Kurt Cobain of all people namechecking him as inspiration, if you like this version check him out on guitar on Billy Thorpe & Aztecs blinding version of Jimmy Holiday's "The New Breed" too - that's really mod, he also wrote all the Wild Cherries 60's stuff. Would love to know how they even got hold of a copy of OHD&T to cover in the first place all the way back then, especially as the band were from Brisbane, not even Sydney! No surprise if nothern purists here take umbrage at it but it's a damn fine little 45.
  20. Fell asleep once very drunk next to pile of top shelf records sitting on the sofa, to add to the comedy was still wearing a heavy bicycle chain around my waist (I know, please don't ask, it was one of those nights), woke up in the morning on top of all of them spread out completely underneath me, chain and all, still can't believe they all survived, I'm a big fucker too. Worst was a pile of records toppling and falling onto a wooden floor, a piece of one of them snapped off and spilled out to one side so then had to go through all of them to find out which record it came from hoping desperately it had come from some nothing record, no such luck of course, Johnny McCall on Satellite, cost me an arm and a leg to finally replace. That mailer story had a worse version here, friend did it to a Noblemen on Orlyn, $1200+ garage 45, he realised too late and never saw it again, ouch.
  21. Should ask the girlfriend to do for me, I've a gift for destroying anything I try and set up however idiotproof Yes Dylan, Tommy Dent is really quite something, only know of 3 copies, was discussed fair few times on funk forum, I had 2 of them, all 3 are in different parts of NYC funnily enough, we're trying to talk him into performing at a club we run, can you imagine!!!
  22. If I knew how to make mp3's I'd rip you one straight off the 45!! 2 others in the playbox of his would highly recommend are Before I fall in love and Something's wrong, what a voice he had, the B was for Boligny btw.
  23. Here's what's making NYC, um, hot! 10 less knowns (but amazing) Tommy Dent - Soul Thing (Cobblestone) Edith Brown - You did it (4 Brothers) Ronnie White - Out of breath (Brent) hows that for 3 in a row on well known labels that are stupidly invisible The Fabulous Dobbs - The Mess (Naj Ma) Jerry Walker - Mr Limp (Ten High) Betty Wright - Mr Lucky (Solid Soul) Charley Wright - Action Time (Jim Gem) Junius Bugs Hughes - I'm just what the doctor ordered (Hew) Fabuletts - Can't stay away (Mode) Walter B and Untouchables - Can't stop loving you (Apollo) actually this is more forgotten than unknown but too good to let slip
  24. I once outbid Jackie's ex-mistress to get a copy!!! Lovely lady with some of the most amazing stories ever, she was in the studio when this was recorded, plus more importantly was the woman who spent her life savings on trying to help him rehab in hospital when the cunts from Brunswick were witholding payment for his medical care. She went onto marry Sam Moore, what a life!
  25. Mint issue of Sensitive Mind was only $75 less than a year ago on ebay
