Potential Soul Source Anthem?
Does Part 2 contain any advice on selling your collection in order to fund your retirement?

first three records to start a set
They should, but I've arrived at venues early doors where they're still messing about with all the sound settings. That may be because the first DJ doesn't like how it's been set up. I've witnessed DJs still tweaking with the sound well into the night. Age probably has a lot to do with it.

first three records to start a set
The first three records of the first spot are for fine tuning the sound, although the acoustics may change as the venue fills.

Non Vinyl
Here's a foolproof way of getting to hear your favourite sounds out and about. Publish a book about them and give it a snappy title like "The Northern Soul Top 150" et voila!

No Alcohol License Function - Would You Attend?
Sorted. MotownSoulMan has just posted his CV above.

No Alcohol License Function - Would You Attend?
No alcohol wouldn't bother me, but I'm probably in the minority. If you want to tempt people out you probably need something stronger than fizzy pop and squash. A 12:30 finish isn't too appealing, and who's your target audience given the music policy?

How many events?
With apologies to Bobby Goldsboro.... I started up a soul event but I told it to too many people Now every promoter around has got a soul night in my town I booked a really good DJ to attract a whole lot of people Should have advertised it months before ‘Cause there’s no-one coming through the door Too many people, I told too many people. I saw a pair of Technics decks but I told it to too many people Now those Technics decks have gone, and now I’m left with Ariston Now every time I’m on eBay I’m outbid by too many people I should have kept my big mouth zipped I’m tired of always getting pipped By too many people, I told too many people. Well there are too many soul nights in this town Not enough punters to go around No matter what your DJs play It always happens that way Mmmm there’s too many soul nights in my town Here we go again…..

Poll: Version Battle - We're Not Too Young
I think it very much depends on what mood I'm in. This week I'm mostly liking Jackey Beavers.

I would recommend that you pop into your nearest HiFi dealer and audition some turntable / amp / speaker combinations. The Technics is first and foremost a DJ turntable. There are better sounding decks for home use. A lot would depend on your record collection. I recently acquired a Sony PSHX500 that sounds great and has the added bonus of allowing you to digitise your record collection, just connect to a PC........ https://www.richersounds.com/sony-high-resolution-usb-turntable.html

Mr. Floods Party on JM's auction
Incidentally, "Compared To What" didn't get radio plays because the word "abortion" was mentioned in the lyrics.
