It was the first time I've been out in 19 months so it was great to see so many of my friends here last night. They'd told me the new venue was so much better than the last one and it was. Perfect sound and the music was top notch. I knew I was in for a good night musically when Baz played James Dockery "My faith in you is all gone" closely followed by Billy Sha Rae "Pitfall" in the first hour. Simon followed Baz with The Four Tops "Is there anything that I can do" in tribute to Abdul Duke Fakir, all of the Dj's played tributes to our good friend Carl Willingham RIP With Culcheth and Ashton both pushing quality music in the North West then I'll be donning my new shirt again real soon. Well done to all involved. Mick Howard is the normal reviewer, and much better at it than me but unfortunately he wasn't there. I hope you've sent in a sick note pal.
  1. Whilst on the subject of European/Non UK single releases like The Four Tops French only release. Edwin Starr had a German only release that I first heard Simon play at Culcheth a few years ago, it sounded so brilliant I just wanted to cry.👍😂
  2. I wonder if Simon'll have this beauty with him.
  3. Baz, after the sad passing of Abdul Duke Fakir this week, the last original member of the Four Tops, I'm sure their music will be remembered on the 3rd of August. One of my all time favourites is this one.

  5. 3 great titles for sale today 1, Richard Stoute ~ What bag I'm in ~ Trex VG £295.00 There's a blemish on the vinyl (see pics) that causes a little crackle but doesn't over power the music. I've seen it double this price so quite a bargain really. Great for DJing with. Former Cleveland Robinson cover up. Rare Barbados release. Sticker removed so see pics of the label 2, Eddie Carlton ~ Misery/It will be done ~ Swan Promo £75.00 Misery VG++ plays great/ It will be done VG- a few light scratches that plays with some light crackle in places and priced accordingly, WOL see pics 3, Irma Thomas ~ What are you trying to do ~ UK Liberty VG+ £90.00 Inc company sleeve Postage, Special next day delivery £8.00 (Insured for up to £500) Or if you prefer 1st class signed for £3.45 (Insured for up to £50) Thanks for looking. 6. I remember Shifty was playing it pretty early on, like you say some copies turned up, and yet it's still considered an auction item reaching more than a couple of hundred quid every time.
  7. I Know it's not in the same price bracket as the 3 already mentioned but The Dream Team I'm not satisfied is on Carolina Soul's auction every month.
  8. Well done. Can you give us a tip for the next round please.👍
  9. Don't take any notice what I say, my first prediction has just lost.
  10. Germany, France, Holland & England who should beat a team that drew with Scotland.
  11. Recently a rival promoter gave a not very favourable review of a soul night that about 5 other members gave a very positive review of. Everybody has their own opinion but it may well have been tactical.
  12. Sounds like a Carlsberg ad" If Carlsberg did a record room it would probably look something like this.😄
  13. It sounds to me like you want a Tardis type cabinet that when you open a drawer a pair of Technics decks with mixer slide out. If there is such a thing I'd like one as well.🤔
  14. Filed under the best of UK only part of Simon's play box, Dee Dee Warwick's 1966 up tempo soul perfection and what a cracker it is
  15. Here's a possibility for Mr Inghams set. I don't know this one, I'll just have a listen now.
  16. That set up looks great but I think I'd have to turn the turntables the right way round and not sideways on.
  17. Here's a touch of brilliance from Percy & Them A.K.A The Versatones
  18. Here's one of the very best group harmony twofers you can possibly get, Baz and Simon both have a copy in their playbox so there's a good chance either side can get a go on the turntable. The Versatones A.K.A Percy & Them who also has a chance of getting a spin in the modern room.
  19. The guy on the front row has a look of a young Kev Roberts to me. Russ Winstanley on the left.😃
  20. Yeh that's what he meant up and coming.🤔
  21. On Manships last auction he credited Gene Anderson a Simon Ingham play at Keele but surprisingly thought he was a young DJ. I reckon Mr Manship needs his eyes testing . 😂 Great record though.
  22. Mick, I know somebody who thought they'd mixed Fortnum & Mason & Marks & Spencer for their record sales. She thought I was joking when I informed her that was their real names.
  23. Thanks Mike for that, I'd forgotten how packed those Rarest of the rare allnighters were.
  24. When you say older individuals or as Labours new tax adviser calls us Old Codgers. I think you'll find that some are collecting rarer records from their younger days that weren't readily available at the time. I thought a young dj like yourself would be out trying to find your own next big future rarity and leave all of the over priced oldies to the generation that grew up with them
