Sunday Times Style Magazine article 3/3/24
Well Mark, I wouldn't say I've led a sheltered life but I thoroughly enjoyed The Proms as well, however I can appreciate a top class performance no matter who's performing. There's been TV ads, TV shows including Soaps storylines in Emmerdale & Coronation Street, Feature Films, A Northern Soul play so for you the over exposed bollocks has only just arrived. Some would say that happened years ago.

Zero,Zero,Zero what a series, it was so good I bought it on DVD. Italian Mafia and South American drug cartels what's not to like. Thanks Simon for the reminder.

I thought he was wooden when he did Crufts, he had no idea how to interact with the contestants (The owners not the dogs) 😃 I think he only did it the once. On Animal Park & The Chernobyl Doc he's ok.

GRUMPY SOUL SPECIAL @ CULCHETH
I have a feeling I only went to Grumpys a couple of times and Andy was on both times, I agree with what's already been said, both of his sets were absolutely brilliant, musically top notch, I mean there's not many can play both sides of John & the Weirdest one after the other without any break. Well If you've got'm, why not flaunt'm.

Gerri Grainger ... Why Cant It Be Tonight
I collected The Tranells off Steve Chadwick for him on some Hotel Car Park, I'm pretty sure the trade was for Gerri Grainger. possibly Chaddy's copy was then broken?

Gerri Grainger ... Why Cant It Be Tonight
I could be wrong but didn't Andy Peake have one and swapped it to Steve Chadwick for The Tranells.

Mick, I know I haven't been out for quite a while but the last time I heard this classic played out anywhere was when Andy rammed the dancefloor at the Radcliffe allnighter a few years ago with it. I could be wrong but I think this was a Levine play at the Mecca. It's still a bloody rare-un.

R.I.P Tony Middleton
I spent a couple of hours with Tony walking round Cleethorpes one Saturday morning looking for a shop that sold film for his camera. Every shop we entered he introduced himself, told the staff what he wanted the film for and where he was performing that night. He was a true gentleman. Very sad news for a soul legend. Rip.

I watched The Greatest Night In Pop at the weekend on Netflix. It's a feature length documentary on the making of the "We are the world" single in 1985, from the writing of the song with Lionel Ritchie and Michael Jackson. Selling the idea to Quincy Jones as producer and then sorting out all the stars to sing on it and what part would suit each one of them. I thoroughly enjoyed Bob Dylans contribution, Stevie Wonder was great with him. Well Recommended. 5*****

BBC Radio Four Woman's Hour: Northern Soul feature
Copernicus just called, apparently the Northern Soul scene isn't the centre of the Universe?

BBC Radio Four Woman's Hour: Northern Soul feature
I don't get what skateboarding and attending the Bristol School of performing arts on Saturday for four years has got to do with anything, So what, my mate plays Rugby on Saturday, sometimes for 2 teams but it doesn't stop him doing soul stuff at night. Apparently she was in 3 stage productions as well, so there's no chance of her appearing in Once upon a time in Wigan 2, The Stafford Story.

LOWTON ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL @ CULCHETH - ANDY DYSON
I'm sure I've seen this beauty on a Chalky playlist in the past. A regular spin on the soul radio shows back in the day, Richard Searling featured it on a regular basis. A soulful masterpiece to my ears. See what other high quality tunes Chalky has in his locker this Saturday. I've just noticed this is a picture of the CD and not the original vinyl copy. Schoolboy error on my part but the track speaks for it's self.

I'll look out for La Famille Belier. I thoroughly enjoyed 36 as well. Cinema Paradiso was my introduction into it. Flattop Tony on soul source lent me a load of the more obscure titles like The Ordeal, Night of the Sunflowers, Timecrimes and the classic Vengeance trilogy.
