The stench started to stink up venues back in the 90s when the first wave of "returnees" appeared after "doing their duty" and contributing to the over-population of the planet , they had cupboards full of the baby stuff to get shot of.

I honestly found it as disturbing as walking through the entrance to an empty Auschwitz-Birkenau at the crack of dawn before the coachloads arrived. I apparently didn't utter a word for the entire 6 hours we were at the two sites ...

Nice story ... But honestly I'd have been mortified if my parents had ever suggested 'escorting' me out on a Friday/Saturday night at 18. It was always a case of "Where you off to this weekend ... ?" , followed by "See you when you get back"... Very different times back in the 70s/80s and I dare say before that.
