  1. Calla distributed Mayfield, so I guess "Girls are out to get you" would qualify. Was Bunky distributed by Calla?
  2. Thanks for that Dave. Still working on a listing, but I'll definitely let you have it when it's done - I'd much rather they go to genuine enthusiasts than general dealers.

The first time I ever went to Yate, as I walked in they were playing George Benson's version of "Love ballad".
  4. Thanks for those suggestions, folks. I hadn't thought of Mr T, great idea, and I agree I should try JM too. Any other thoughts anyone?
  5. Does anyone know of any dealers who handle soul magazines and books? I'm trying to help a friend to deal with some of her late husband's collection of music-related items, and she has a load of quality magazines and books. The mags include 60s titles such as "Home of the Blues", very early "Blues and Soul", 70s fanzines like "Soul Symbol", "Deeper and deeper" and "Souled out", the French mag "Soul Bag", and a load of doo-wop/rock'n'roll mags including "Who put the bomp", "Time Barrier Express" and "Rumble". I'd have them myself but I've been banned from bringing any more mags home! Are there any dealers anyone knows of who'd be interested in this sort of stuff? Thanks in anticipation Nick

Thanks Matt. A quick Google search tells me it's the flip of "Make me the woman you go home to" on Soul, but the UK copy I have has a different flip. Guess that's why I missed it.

I've just played Ann Sexton's "It's all over but the shouting" on 77, and noticed that it has Motown composer & publishing credits. Made me wonder if there are any Motown versions. Anyone know? Cheers Nick
  8. Yes Rick, it's the same Artie Fullilove. I have 2 other versions of "Are you ready for this" - Jay & the Techniques, on Smash, and Bill Deal & the Rhondells, on UK MGM (I think the US label was Heritage)
  9. Chip Tyler's cover of "If you ask me" has the same B-side, but it's titled "I love you Yvonne".
  10. Very good question, Taffy, but I'm afraid I've no idea. I wonder if any if the missing ones I've been looking for exist as demos only?
  11. They're lovely items, aren't they, especially when they come with the jukebox inserts. I have a few by the Impressions, but not this one. I imagine there was one for each US Impressions LP, unless anyone know different?
  12. Cheers Jimmy - likewise the ABC discog I found on the net. I wonder if it was a planned release that got pulled? I guess I need a new quest for 2012.
  13. That's interesting Robb. I have a few of the jukebox EPs, but not with these titles. Do you have any further details? Cheers Nick
  14. You're right Bob, they're a real pain. This site lists the 2 45s that probably don't exist https://www.globaldogproductions.info/a/abc-paramount.html and shows the regular combination "I can't stay away from you/You ought to be in Heaven" There doesn't seem to be any way of proving something doesn't exist, but I guess I should just accept that I'm unlikely to be the proud owner of any of these.
  15. Cheers Steve - I've only ever seen it with YOTBIH, as you say, but I wondered if it might have had an alternative B side. I agree YOTBIH would be considered the top side in the UK, but "I can't stay away from you" was the chart side in the US. Nick
  16. Thanks Bob, it looks as though I can maybe call off the chase, but if you ever come across any of them, you know who to call!
  17. Thanks Dave - I've got the Spanish 45, but I still need the Portuguese EP with "Stay close to me". And if anybody has it, my top want is the Coke advert..... Nick
  18. There's a reasonable UK version by Judi Johnson, on HMV 1371, from 1964. Dionne Warwick also did it on the "Then came you" LP
  19. I've been collecting Impressions records for more than 40 years and have never come across any of the following: ABC 10869 Love's a comin'/Wade in the water A lot of discographies list this, but I've never seen a copy offered for sale, it's not in the JM Price Guide, doesn't seem to be in Popsike - do I need to spend any more of my remaining years looking for it? ABC ????? Girl you don't know me/A woman who loves me The "Complete A & B sides" CD compilation includes these two tracks ABC 10964 I can't stay away from you/Man's temptation Pete Burns' Curtis Mayfield biography include this - is it just a typo that should read "You ought to be in Heaven" as the B side? 20th Century 172 All though (sic) the night/Meanwhile back in my heart This appears in an article by Keith Rylatt, in Manifesto earlier this year, and shown as a 1959 release. This isn't in JM's book or Popsike either. Someone must know - boba, can you help? Happy New Year Nick

Here's another: 101 Cam Cameron They say/I'm a lonely man Cheers Nick
  21. Thanks Miff - I thought that was the case. I can call off the hunt now. Nick
  22. Does anyone know if Bobby's "I'm a midnight mover" was issued on a 45?
  23. Here's an early one (his first solo?) And a few UK:
  24. A few of my favourites.....
  25. This was sent out to record retailers, to announce the launch of Pye International
