Rose Brooks - They're Coming To Take Me Away - official A side of I'm Moaning
  3. Yeah, unissued anywhere until Grapevine. Paid about £10 for mine not long ago but there's one on ebay buy it now for £45. Can't see it selling, but have seen it go for 20ish.

Thanks for that Better than I thought it was but I think the Stairsteps has the edge. Better value for your money anyway.

I always used to say I prefered the Five Stairsteps, but I think it was as much to wind my mate up as anything. I haven't heard the Shamettes for years so I'm not sure now.

Just been listening to the Five Stairsteps, but it reminded me of the other version, can't think who it's by & it's doing my head in.

Yeah, A few years ago, when my wife was working in a bookshop the woman from the Cancer Research shop next door came in and ordered a record collector price guide.
  8. Got GET IT BABY, no saying where though Copied it off Lewi from Runcorn who had it round his nipple

Buy Manships bootleg guide if you haven't already got it.

Bootlegged on ootp, don't think it was pressed on either of the original labels, Champion & Doc.
  11. Nick does a guest spot on the Radio Stoke soul show on the first friday of the month. The show is 7 - 9, and Nick's on in the first half. The Fabulous Peps were on last friday, if anyone wants to hear it it should be available on listen again. Go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/radiostoke/ and type in Mary Fox.
  12. I just remembered reading it somewhere, it turns out it was on here last year, and nobody was really sure anyway.
  13. Quote from Manship's bootleg guide on Florence Devore "some of the pale blue bootlegs actually play Thelma Lindsey"
  14. Just done a quick search, this has been done on here before but nobody came up with a definite answer. Personally I don't think John of the Weirdest sounds like either Bowie or Hendley but if I had to pick one I'd go for John Bowie.
  15. I thought John & the Weirdest was John Bowie.
  16. Not to be confused with Bobby Crush either, completely different bloke.
  17. The stuff I have heard by him remind me more of Little Johnny Taylor but they are 60's recordings, he might have gone more like Hendrix in the 70's
  18. Has anyone heard the original version of Niki Hoeki, as covered by PJ Proby & if so is it any good? Cheers Crumb
  19. I don't play anything out cuz I think having to look after a box of expensive records all night is a pain in the arse but if I'd travelled to a do advertised as ovo i wouldn't be very impressed if they played Grapevine records that had previously been issued in whatever country. I've got no problem with previously unissued stuff like the 100 club aniversary 45's though. I might get another box though cuz the Betty Boo, Happy Cats & 100 club 45's look out of place in the same box as Stateside, red Atlantic etc. If any newcomers are reading this thread they'll think we're right nit picking old gits
  20. You're just arguing about language here really. If I still had this it would reside in a cadboard box with my pressings, re-issues etc along with Nabay on Grapevine. I keep Betty Boo & the Happy Cats in a proper case with my other UK originals. That's just what seems right to me.
  21. Heard this a while ago, assumed it was done just for a bit of fun and as such it's ok. But if it was done for a comercial release, well, that's different.

Bought a record about a year ago on either Gemm or Netsoumnds off Jeff King. I thought it was just someone with the same name but my mate thinks it's the same bloke.

There's an Ella Johnson that had a record out on Old Town, could be the same person.
