  1. Gee thanks Bully, that's mightily appreciated... Anyone got Gary Rushbrooke's "Detroit Is Happening" article from one of the late issues to hand? A scan would be good for those who have never seen it - a superb read.
  2. Chris Fletcher's mag. Ten issues in total (I think). I've got them all in the loft. A fantastic mag that heavily supported good new 60's at the time. Eg Richard/Sam latest playlists etc...Lots of humour as well - anyone remember Duke? It ran from '78ish - '80 methinks. Personally, a big influence on me at the time, particuarlly for the appreciation of lesser known records.
  3. I played this on Dispo 12" (if that counts ) at Stafford a couple of times Steve. Also, someone mentioned Patterson Twins....Arthur was playing this in '82 if my memory is correct!
  4. I'm another, work shifts (frequently across weekends), a young bairn, but love my music as much if not more than ever (right across the board) and like Coddy appreciate the fact that it is so accessible these days. Off to Ems Sheffield this weekend and gagging for a good night out
  5. Superb listening....I'll have "I'll keep holding on" going around in my head for the next week now. Such a sublime haunting masterpiece....
  6. Mark, Hey, those jackets seemed so cool!!! Say Hi to Dave when you speak to him - many happy memories of him - He was the biggest influence on me in listening to new styles of music for which I'll always be grateful.
  7. I'ld be very surprised Chalky. As Dave F says I hear he just does the family thing now (a bit like me!)
  8. Ian , check out the following... Fingers Inc - Mystery Of Love The It - Donnie Sterling Void - Runaway Girl (Stomper!!!) (Sure I won't have to mention "Its Alright" !!!!) Farley and Ricky Dillard - "Its You" Peter Black "How Far I Go" Paris Brightledge "Learn To Love" (Very classy) TC Crew "I Can't Do It Alone" (A later release but excellent!)
  9. As mentioned on EMS Mark - Great pictures...I've changed my avataar so you can see the difference 18 years has made...wheres it gone?..no not the years...my hair! Yes Binnsy, Jim Dunn was a great lad - would love to see him again some time. Mike Shawe - fab times on the record bar at Southport eh!

  11. I went to my first ever All Dayer, which happened to be at The Palais, in Sep 1976. Vividly remember Lindburgh II "Toulouse" playing as I paid my money to get in. Can also see my brother dancing to The Skullsnaps "i'm Your Pimp" in a dance competition on the same day. I attended many times over the next years (Dayers and Niters) and like the above I'll always have very many happy memories of the famous Palais.

  13. I used to be very regular at The Brit '79/'80. Travelling from Loughborough practically every week. A great way to start the weekend - many great nights there. Gary Rushbrooke and John Poole were the regulars when I started going. Occasional spots from Chris Fletcher? Some excellent nights when Richard guested. Steve Phyllis was a regular there in the early - mid 80s I reckon? (along with Rob Smith)
  14. Yes Mark! it's amazing what you find when you start digging around. Love the "name that tune" thread by the way

  16. In 1987 I had decided to wind down the Djing and was moving to London. I'll always remember turning up at Thorne with a sales box (Florence Trapp, Troy Johnson, Willie Darrington and more...) Rob Wigley and Gavin had some easy pickings that night But glad they went to a good home and it was way before the internet and explosion of values. Like others, I've sold a lot of stuff over the years but have cdr'd it all .Luckily I've got plenty left and most will never have a value that will tempt me to sell.
