Diskunion.net in Japan seems to have them (along with most issues of There's The Beat!). Anyone know how to go about ordering from Japan? Cheers Gordon
  2. Still going strong, 2 hours of the finest ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul around - something for everyone and not a dancehall record in sight! Also check Kollectors Corner on Sunday nights from 11pm to 2am UK time playing ska, rocksteady, beat ballads, doo wop and sweet 70s group soul - chilled out music for "old folk" G
  3. Soul will still be going strong for generations to come, there are many 20 somethings into it now and I'm getting my 1 year old step-grandaughter into it, she was bobbing her head to some Motown classics this morning. When she's a bit older I'll start playing her oldies, rare soul, R&B, a bit of modern and tell her that it's ALL soul. Maybe when she starts going to niters in her 20s all this oldies vs rare vs modern vs CDs vs vinyl vs north vs south vs the kitchen sink crap will have evaporated into the annals of time and people will venture to soul events just to have a good time eh? I'm after volumes 3&4 too, can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers Gordon
  5. Hi All You can now find me on www.reggaeworldmusic.com on Thursday nights at 9pm UK time, Jamdown Got Soul with DJ Greedy G playing the best in classic ska, rocksteady, reggae, 50s US R&B and beat ballads for the big people dem. RWM is the biggest reggae only station on the net and they had Tony Screw from Downbeat sound system as a guest the other week and Winston "Merritone" Blake has also guested in the past. Cheers G
  6. Stay In My Corner - The Dells (Cadet) G
  7. Anyone mentioned these yet? Joe Tex - I Wanna Be Free Ronnie Love - Chills And Fever G
  8. Between a fiver and tenner for all. Depends if the Studio 1 tunes are originals or represses too. If original might get around £15 to £20 for the Ernest Wilson. Gordon

    The greatest ever. R.I.P.
  10. Not For A Moment - Beltones on the flip. EBay is crazy right now - could go for 30 quid, could go for 75 or more. It's hard to figure the true value of JA tunes anymore as a tune that used to go for 50 quid amongst people on the proper reggae scene (ie not the skinhead or mod scenes) can now go for 100. I'd take a guess at 40 to 50 quid though. Gordy
  11. Already been said but I'll say it again. A legend. R.I.P.
  12. I'm a relative newcomer to the Northern Soul Scene, having only gone to my first soul do at the age of 28 in the late 90s (anyone who knows me will know that I'm first and foremost a Jamaican music fan and got into soul via ska and rocksteady). Anyway, to get to the point, I'd just like to thank Ian for putting together the DVDs as those of us who were in kindergarten/junior school (or weren't even born yet) in the early 70s don't know what many of the artists look like and these videos let us see them in action. Some of the music is class too and miles better than the "R&B" crap that infests the charts. Gordy

Couple of my fave gritty numbers from the King stable: Saving My Love For My Baby - Marva Whitney She Made A Mistake - Connie Austin Gordy

First two about a fiver, Tippa & Pato E.P. between 10 and 15 quid as people collect the early 80s UK Bubblers/Saxon sound system stuff. Gordy
  15. Thanks All Not on this Sunday due to the station broadcasting live bands from some hippy festival thing, but I'll be back on Sunday 7th September and remember to check out the podcast in the meantime! Gordy
  16. Just want to say if you've missed any of my shows or haven't listened yet, then please feel free to check out: https://www.djgreedyg.podomatic.com Where you will find all my shows archived as podcasts for you to download in your own time. Cheers Gordy
  17. Sunday 1pm to 3pm, www.ne1fm.com or 102.5 in the Newcastle Upon Tyne and Tyneside area. I'll be playing 2 hours of Lee Perry productions and a few of his own early ska and rocksteady killers. 60s and early 70s first hour, mid to late 70s second hour. Gordy
  18. Bang goes the theory I read somewhere that none other than Jimmy Saville invented the double decks!
  19. Etta James - Rage To Survive. Jerry Butler - Only The Strong Survive. And not a biography as such, but Robert Pruter's "Chicago Soul" is a great book encompassing Chess, Okeh, Brunswick, Blue Rock, One-Der-Ful, etc.
  20. Just the way I do things I guess mate. It's to give casual fans an insight into how the styles evolved too. I'm going to be having an hour of modern ska this coming Sunday and last Sunday I played an hour of dub (just for Smiffy lol). Gordy
  21. Yeah that was a bad idea that night, it clashed with about six other nights. I'm more experienced now though and this radio show is the real deal - going out on FM to the whole Newcastle area and all over the place on the net. Some local promoters still treat me like a joke though. Gonna be their loss not mine! G
  22. Bump Going strong and I've had mails from reggae legends to say they're tuning in. Got a few more jingles in the works too from friends in the business. All cos I don't wear boots n braces or fake dreadlocks I've never fit in with other white reggae fans but eff the scenes - it's about the music, not playing fancy dress! G
  23. Tomorrow at 1pm!! I'll be playing 60s and early 70s first hour, 80s to present day in the second hour. G
  24. Cheers mate! Peeps who don't bother checking me out are gonna miss out big time. I've got some top notch guest DJs lined up for this summer to come in and do a few spots and some artists passing through the area are going to drop in for a chat. Also got some nice jingles from some well known names in the reggae biz. This ain't no fat bloke spinning a few tunes on the internet thing, it's proper radio going out to the whole city of Newcastle and beyond and of course it's available on the net too. I'm trying not to sound like I'm up me own bum here but I've paid my dues on the reggae scene (read reggae scene - not skinhead or scooter scene!) playing backrooms of local pubs to 10 people etc and now I've arrived Cheers! G
