this was a mecca record and it was really rare at the time i remember searling begging me for a copy i had, in truth if there was still a demand it would still be as i think people forget the avco-embassy is a 74 reissue originals avco, this worked at the mecca but i dont think it did at the casino due to the different sound systems this can be said for a lot of records at the mecca you heard them as they should have been heard yet at wigan many came out as a muffled noise, yeh this really reminds me of the mecca, older members may remember marc on t.v there was a programme comedy called julia about a widowed mother, marc was the son and Diahnn carroll was the mother, late 60s cheers for posting that up paul, im in the fan club

SOULOF theres no 321 on mine [the copy that 'may' be dodgy] just12006A as opposed to CF12006 II [ II probibly refering to the mix] this is getting more a mystery by the day if the other is legit its a puzzler why would a label that was on its knees [and it was almost over by then] print so many different labels anyway one more for the discog 12001 moving world/breezes- creative funk i thinks that just leaves 1 more

i remember when this was pressed in 72/3 soul galore records in birmingham used to play it a lot in the shop, this guy from one of the other stalls goggle next door hated it, all day youd hear him screaming 'get that f***** record off, then one day he totally flipped bursting into the stall saying if it was ever played again hed stab everybody to death! he meant it too,everybody saw he meant it and it was never played again,later in life you can kind of see his point! was a very big record in its day though

i remember him from there well even when it had its previous name 'the beefeater' from round 1972, lovely guy always gave me a lift home well he dropped me off halfway home in the middle of cheshire tarvin or tarporley or somewhere like that from there i almost never got a lift home arriving home sometimes the next day he was into allsorts even then, one night i couldnt get into the car for elvis presley l.ps, i said what are these he said hed been elvis d.j'ing a couple of nights earlier my funny sam story would be from there in 73, we always arrived first and he was always waiting for us to proudly show off the new sounds seek approval etc, this one night he was extra specially excitable and beaming then he played rubin 'youve been away' [not sure who played it first but for me it was the first time id heard it so i would say it was him,hard to tell as it was everywhere 2 weeks later] we were like wow! and he was beaming like a schoolkid. he played it later when the crowd came in,it was already a monster, well until after he took it off put in on the chair behind him, forgot about it and later sat down and broke it in half ill never forget his face we found him some sellotape and it still played somehow,but ooh that face

original mix has been re-issued now on defected along with dimitri and tom moulton mixes c.d and double 12"

this was promo only, and youre not going to find this easy, these go for round £300 on ebay and ive seen one sell for £500 about 4/5 years ago, was re-issued on 12" on canadian unidisc in the early 80s even these are hard to find and would sell for a few bob

cant wait, i actually looked for this today and couldnt find it my only gripe is they should have missed out on patti jo /dream world/clara lewis as as that stuff was covered on disco gold, still a top release though
