  1. Appears to be December 1967/ January 1968
  2. These have no connection at all to this label as they were a Jamaican Sound System, Mutt’s real name was Kenneth Davy and he named his sound system Mutt and Jeff after the popular comic strip of the day which featured a very tall character, Mutt, and a “half-pint” named Jeff.
  3. I guess stories do get miswritten over the years and thanks for letting us know
  4. Kev Roberts met up with Joey...he may know more https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/page1/Inspirations/
  5. Would that just be a different run using same master or a different pressing plant ?

  7. I found this quote from Sidney Barnes who thought very highly of Mr Fairclough "Here's the Shee records story. Shortly after I left Jobete I started my own label with some guys from the Bronx NY. We called it Shee records. Little Nicky was a very, very good friend of mine from my New Jersey hood who wanted so bad to be a singer. So I recorded him as our first act on the label. Now because I was still under contract to Motown & Jobete I couldn't use my real name, so I became M. Alexander (Alexander) is my middle name. Only a few records were pressed but it was a great song co-written by a sweet lady named Lil White. Little Nicky's real name is Nicholas Faircloth and he was like a son to me. Richard Tee was my arranger and good friend from Jobete, George Kerr and I worked with him and helped him develop into a really great musician"
  8. Mutt & Jeff originally was addressed at 1607 El Centro Avenue, Buddy Lowe joined the label as VP in 1971 for marketing and merchandising so perhaps some labels were issued then. I started thread here
  9. I had that problem a bit when first using Discogs , but easily solved, I now get them to confirm the condition in detail, when the order has been placed or ask them first before ordering and problem solved
  10. Most sellers I have come across are "Head and Shoulders" (other hair treatments are available) good sellers There is a forum on Discogs for these issues and I suggest you make your comments to that forum, rather than this one, or report your problem as I have found it really useful, if you buy a faulty car from Ford it's no good complaining to Vauxhall 😀

The last copy I watched closely was 9 years ago which went through Pat Brady for £1000 I agree with you as it is a record I would only bother with if I was 12/13 again in another life, but lots of folks love it so there we are

I would be shocked if it hasn't been booted as it is a "prime" record to be booted (not that I would approve of course)

Staggering to think this never got a release and a year later our friend Bobby Goldsboro slapped on his LP as a pop song
  14. That's ruined my thought in one way, perhaps I should have said decent (lyric wise) 😀

Below is the smaller run out I believe these were pressed for John Anderson originally but is has been Booted with same label Someone will know
  16. Amazing coincidence today ...... got up and went to one of our local car boot sales (nearly the end of the season) and picked up this for £1 and in really nice condition too Not had it before and it's actually really good IMO
  17. Good job they weren't found in the UK or Europe then or there would be "bootleg" fever (Genuine Releases are available)
  18. Too Right and boy oh boy it needed a vocal release 😂
  19. Sadly I gave up on record fairs about 10 years ago (spent 20 years going to them) Most dealers will nowadays check prices on the web themselves (unless they are too old fashioned) and I found that they were just getting rid of there "not so good stock" or the good stuff was over priced. I always felt that there were few bargains to be had for the digging time necessary and this trend has passed on even with the very few flea markets around and car boot sale sellers. I certainly would never knock them and guess there will always be a place for them (students seem to love them) as you can see they are still busy in some areas from the images. I did call into a fair in Blackpool earlier this year (in a pub) but the only soul records were in one box and ALL bootlegs !!!!
  20. Wow...what a find and here's to hearing the tunes I don't suppose the Carla Baker is this Lady, as she did live in New Orleans for a time https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/carlabaker
  21. Believe me there is no way of finding out or I would have done, they must have been called in to perform these tunes and were NEVER credited and this LP never has been on Discogs
  22. Re-mixing time in study is booked for 13th September and will have cuts of the 2 tunes ready around the 20th so will let everyone have a listen
  23. Good shout but not that
