  1. Is it me just getting "old", or does that mean that the 7 Dwarfs (apart from Rick) were a totally different group Can you help with where info has come from please
  2. I am newish to Soul Source and found this thread Did we ever find out about Sam and who he was as Dave's website has disappeared of into orbit somewhere (I apologise if it is somewhere else and I have missed it)
  3. I Lincolnshire's own Hillbilly and he is STILL wearing the exact same shirt I last saw him in, seems no matter how much money you have, you can't buy "Class"
  4. This would have been a huge hit if it had been played here and I Think it's a different mix to the original https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_54
  5. Years ago someone told me that Gloria had done another album with Barry White (and was supposed to be better) and Glodean had the masters since he died and refused to release them Course could be speculation and Chinese whispers
  6. He was a producer as well and kicked out some pure class (well with Terry Callier using his pen what do we expect) RIP Chuck
  7. More importantly, can she sort out that unreleased album that she did with Mr White, whatever happened to it ?
  8. It would be nice to find out who this group were and I apologise if I have missed a thread on here Net stuff quotes and it's all the same !!! "Ron & the Embracers were a semi-obscure group from East Los Angeles, CA. That’s about all that I know of them. “Latin Blood” is the A-side to their highly sweated Brown-eyed Northern Soul tune “You Came Into My Life” on Spectrum, and it’s a heavy instrumental complete with nice keys, a reverbed-out guitar and loud horns a la Los Vampiros. I’ve personally been jamming this out all winter, since it has a nice vibe to it that suits this time of year. Perfect for a crisp, sunny winter day in California. Now for the Northern Soul tune. The horns on this track are what it’s all about for me here, but really it has a lot going for it. For one, Ron’s voice is like butter over the backing soul music. I’ve never heard of this fellow named Al Maldonado, who apparently produced both of the songs on this 45, but I’d love to hear anything else he had a hand in!" M.R. Martin production might be a clue, but I am stuck and I guess they had nothing to do with the Chicago group on Lucky Label Inc "Mr Sunrise"
  9. A record under the sponsorship of South Carolina "department of correction", first appearing on "Music World" records. As Charles E. Smith and the Department of Correction Blazons", then it amazingly surfaced on a "vanity" label from California. A label that came up with the concept of putting your "Poems or Lyrics" to music, for a fee. The Preview label 6311 Yucca Street, Hollywood released multiple very low-run "vanity" 45's some of which became Northern Grails.. Several of Rod Keith's releases are the perfect example. The styles were wide ranging, from Country, Pop, R&B and Soul with one thing in common they are all rare. So quite why Charles E. Smith and His Department Of Correction Blazons, would appear on this label is a complete mystery. The Preview label in their wisdom adjusted the artist credit from, "His Department Of Correction Blazons" to "The New Coronets Band". Every 45 on the "Preview" label was a low run, commercial exercise, for this concept label, that aided writing "talent" to enter the record release market.. https://www.songpoemmusic.com/labels/preview.htm

  24. Found this "Taurus and Leo were Melvin Dukes (Taurus) and Eddie Woods (Leo) from Cleveland Ohio cut their only disc – “Going Out The World Backwards / I Ain’t Playing Baby”, a Bob Hamilton (Ronnie Savoy) track about 3/69 after they were spotted by Ben Crosby in a show at the Peter Pan Lounge in a show with Pat Lewis. Apparently they were a wow live on stage and the record looked like being there way to the top, but unfortunately at the record launch party they were caught "shooting up"in the toilets with the door open!! (according to Don Mancha --who was involved in the promotion of said disc). Taurus and Leo headed back to Cleveland never to be heard of as a duo again. Eddie later recorded as Eddie Woods and one of his tracks was a Northern Soul Biggie. Dukes (Taurus) died after falling over in his drive and as an Emphysema sufferer was unable to get to his respirator, Woods lives in Indian Hills Seniors Appartment complex and lost an arm several years ago in an accident at a canning factory where he worked in Euclid, Ohio."
