  1. Probably not place to discuss grading but... Some visually grade, others playgrade. Personally I think both visual and sound should come into the one grade. No problem as you have spelt it out. You dont want comeback if someone reads M- and forgets the caveat. ROD
  2. I am at a loss to understand how something in M- condition plays with noise and that your price reflects that. Shouldn't the grading be lower ? ROD [Forum Moderator]
  3. Hope Im not being facetious here,Chalky but prices in dealers' boxes is last thing I'd look at other than to compare prices if same 45s in different boxes. Fact that there in a box, usually for some time, shows IMO probably too expensive. Such a demand for Northern at right price they should sell almost immediately. Based on my experience of selling. ROD
  4. I know Pete. And Frankie Valli was Cecil Washington of its day. Still a great record with a fantastic break for dancers. ROD
  5. I can chinstroke with the best of 'em, Bazza so Im not suggesting that this 45 is ripe for re-activation just because some dont know it. It is of a time and place. For me and Mark S long before M's. In 2013 it really has no place, based on the wealth of so much better music, outside of a night designed to capture that era. Even back then I woulda swapped Wayne for Impressions,Fascinations,Contours etc without hesitation. It does take me back when I hear it and in fact two good sides of 60's pop. As an aside my mum used to work with Wayne's mum at McVitie's in Levenshulme. ROD
  6. Ah but its history goes back way before M's Chalky. Late 60's spin along with the likes of say Spencer Davis "Trampoline" Embryonic Northern scene really. ROD
  7. Before this post does turn into a long-running saga I suggest those interested PM TSU please. TSU maybe an idea to list a few 45s to give some idea of what you are selling or have. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  8. Luckily I've just patented the very thing. Cleansing Alcohol Solution Hydrate. Make cheques for £199.99 payable to Cleansing Alcohol.... or C.A.S.H. for short and send to myself at PO Box 4675 Acapulco Mexico Allow 5 years for delivery as PO is quite a trip from the beach. ROD
  9. OK he's selective sometimes but I remember going to Wigan from Mecca in 1973 and Russ DID NOT stand out as rubbish. I always associate him as playing Moments "Hey boy". ROD
  10. When I was 17 it was a very good year. Sorry got distracted. "This is Sue" but I do remember getting Chi-Lites with "Coldest Days..." and "Inner City Blues" back in 72 [was it?] Played it to death. ROD
  11. That link doesn't work for me. Just thought I'd mention it in case its you rather than me. ROD
  12. I think "absolutely true" is pushing it a bit but there is a similarity.
  13. Alma Cogan. Little known fact but Saxie Russell sampled the intro to "The railroad runs through the middle of the house". ROD
  14. Now moved to Look at Your Box. The other day I split Sandy Golden off from a wants thread. Can members please bear in mind that individual sales and wants are NOT the place to discuss merits or otherwise of 45s in question. Open a new topic in LAYB. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  15. You gave him correct shipping address. Up to him to sort it out with PO. ROD
  16. Closing this. Been bumped to top of wants page enough I think. Comments to help locate 45 are fine. Anything else start a topic elsewhere. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  17. I locked it. It's Dave's sales ad. Not the place to argue the merits of the records. If you look in the guidelines it suggests you open a topic in LAYB if you wanna get into that aspect. ROD [Forum Moderator]

I have PM'd the poster to suggest a bit more info. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  19. Guitar Ray "You're gonna wreck my life" ? Its easy to dance to ! Cynics ! ROD
  20. I dont know how I have got this reputation as a martinet and stickler BTW ebay section should be Ebay and Website Sales section. Dont do it again,Phil. I've moved this to correct section and will forego the "rollicking" bearing in mind that the poster is a new member and based in Toronto where he can pick 45s up for next to nothing and sell them to us. Actually I feel a rollicking coming on ! No problem, Tuneupmusic. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  21. Some of you may have noticed that I have been emending some titles in the ads that have been posted recently. I have had a few complaints recently regarding this. If you look at the Sales guidelines the first tip is to be as specific as possible. Paticularly applies to those ads with only a couple of 45s for sale the details of which can easily be accommodated in the topic title. I guess if you wanna add "Monster R&B" or "Current in-demander" as well its up to the poster, although that could be included in the actual sales blurb. I do note no one ever describes as "Overpriced piece of tat" ! Secondly there has been quite a few complaints about non-response to wants. There also appears to be the reverse of this where sellers are not responding promptly to enquiries to buy. It might be an idea that if you post a sale you dont leave it too long before checking what responses you've received. It is in the nature of this collecting scene that the enthusiasm and obsessiveness can lead to frustration. I'd prefer that they didn't take that out on me. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  22. Got rid of stuff around pics too now. ROD
  23. Managed to edit top bit. Will pics do as is. ROD [Forum Moderrator]
  24. My three most hated tunes are:- Nolan Porter If I could only be sure If I could only be sure Nolan Porter AND that awful Three Dog Night sounding rubbish by that guy who did "Keep on keepin' on" ROD
