Combinations And C.o.d.s
First thing I do in a morning is bootleg a 45. Even before a fag and a coffee. It was the use of the term "destroyed". Two Wigan oldies bootlegged. Im with Davie. I think the biggest shock for me was that Steve G has spelt parasite incorrectly. ROD

Street Soul And New Jack Swing Is It All Crap?
Those albums and similar were everywhere back then Roger. I must admit I preferred the street soul and 2-step stuff to the modern stuff played on Northern scene. Cos it was different I guess. And thinking back to that Sir John track it has given me an excuse to post this up in a similar groove. Im not so sure this song is really about cherries and bananas ROD

Cool Down Zone were regular customers when I had that stall in Afflecks in Manchester. Used to buy a lot of PIR stuff esp. Jean Carn. Couple of my faves

Record Prices - Is It Me Or Have They Gone Mad?
Nothing personal but my perception is that maybe you and your dealer friends are not as cheap as you think. Having been a seller myself for a long time who was fair and reasonable now as a buyer I find very few bargains especially in the clubs. ROD

Bo, Whats matrix on other side. I was pretty sure mine is original and matricx is ABC 13096 BUT inbetween the ABC and the 5 digit # there looks to be a 13 crossed through.. It has LW. ROD

Eddie Regan - Playin' Hide And Seek - Info Required
This is the Savory lot, yes? Mate bought Sam & Kitty boot. They wouldn't refund. Said not described as "original" so no comeback. Told him to go through Ebay/Paypal complaint procedure. Going to be a few angry customers if they take that stance with everybody. ROD

Question
In the spirit of jumping on every imagined nuance of Barry's oft obscure observations I'd like to point out that "sophisticated" and "sixties soul lovers" are not mutually incompatible terms. I've met many movers and shakers over the years where the moving and shaking has only resulted in their brains rattling loose. ROD

So! You're Into Soul Music
Half the time I never quite get what Barry is getting at. At the risk of going off at a tangent I seem to have developed a new preoccupation recently on attending a few venues. Can a dj get through a spot only playing what I consider to be soul music. And the answer appears to be no. Obviously entirely subjective and probably down to my changing taste as to what constitutes good Northern. After 40+ years of records to choose from I do feel that yes inferior white stuff still makes an appearance. ROD

Have I Gone Off My Rocker?
I did notice Ernie's comment in the actual ad for that Dewey 45 and he and I discussed it. He opened a thread. As Pete says to have some kinda bar on discussing prices is not on. It is a main topic of conversation and has been for past 40 odd years. As long as ad isn't derailed by actually posting within it I can't see anything wrong here. The ad should solely be for "I want" and "I have" As the mod I do notice posts in wants where to my mind things get talked up too. All subjective of course but one man's helpful info as to availability and price can be construed as talking up the record and maybe the buyer willl not get the 45 as cheap as he may have done before posters jumped into the ad. Basically I think we're making a mountain out of a molehill here.

Rl Burnside It's Bad You Know 45. £50.00
I dont know much about the release of this 45 but if Pikey is of the opinion that it's not a boot then that's fine with me. If it were a charity single then monies raised would have been predicated on it's initial sale and not on subsequent re-sales. As some have pointed out it seems unfair to single out this one sale for criticism. I can't imagine there is anyone on here who hasn't sold a boot at some time or bought a 45 for peanuts off some unsuspecting seller and made a large profit. Unless Deadwax you are intimately aware of the seller's views and actions when it comes to giving to charity then assuming he's lost his moral compass is a step too far. Im locking this but feel free to raise the general subject in another forum. ROD [Forum Moderator]

Vinyl Flat - Does This Work ?
I once put a warped copy of Stylistics "Sing baby sing" between two books and after just an hour it was a perfectly flat copy of the Del-Larks "Job Opening" Had to sacrifice my youngest child and pledge my soul to Lucifer though. Again I think on the whole another method to be avoided. ROD
