Get Over It
Agree with your final two paragraphs although completely unaware of "pooling" practice. Thing is though I could bore you to death with my OVO as no doubt could many others which is why I think the emphasis should be on the "newer" aspect rather than the format. You wouldn't be playing newer stuff on CD anyway unless I guess it was some previously unreleased thing. Adey plays carvers but I suppose he drops the track when it gets released on Kent CD or 45 to make way for next addition to playlist. Unfortunately it's not 1975 anymore and our more cavaliar attitude to the actual records has gone. I think that's a shame as it does seem more of a business rather than a pleasure. I was reminded of this reading Manny results. Imagined conversation at Wigan "Have you got Salvadors, mate" " Yes, the 1.09 mm version" WTF is that about!! ROD

Get Over It
- Jackie Day "naughty Boy"
I think it was around £14 and before anybody accuses me of nasty bootlegging it was just the one for a mate and I think I got a pint. ROD- Is This Record Played?
I like it. Reminds me of the Doors and similar in feel to Surrealistic Pillar 45. Not Northern though. ROD- Jackie Day "naughty Boy"
No, you've misunderstood Marc. The Terry Goodnight and Little Charles were regular 45s. ROD- Jackie Day "naughty Boy"
This is true. I did Guy an Emi cos I quite liked the Jackie Day. I did sell him the Terry Goodnight though cos I wasn't keen on the vocal and Little Charles "Talking..." which I got at the same time. ROD- Little Al And The Maxydimes
Found this in '92 or thereabouts and sold it to Butch. No idea how cos I've forgotten details but couple of years later me and Alex I think got a contact #. I know we were in Kannapolis which is southern bit of NC and Al went off to meet him whilst I looked somewhere else. Think we got 2 copies off him. Al might remember something about him. Pretty sure it was Al that Alex met although not 100% . ROD- Prices Please
Realistically Mel this is worth bugger-all unless Mint nick and then there's a copy set sale on Ebay at $9.99. If you look at completed listings three went through recently inc a copy in VG++ with no bids on any and all low starts. £5 if you're lucky!! ROD- Frederick Hymes
It's a bit cryptic but are you saying the first copy of the record came from Rich Rosen? Is it then that Rich found "X" number of copies of the 45, got good money, tracked owner down to hopefully get more. Answer was "how many do you want" and owner repressed it. Rich then has originals and represses. Rich doesn't differentiate between the two so bit of a lottery whether you got one or the other. Manny then has reduced value in guide as more copies turn up over here from that one source. Does the guide mention there are represses/reissues? ROD- Frank Wilson On Soul Auction
Well if I were the owner of the other copy and had a fair amount of disposable income I'd certainly be giving that some thought. ROD- Frederick Hymes
I just wish "cottage" had occured to me in relation to Wensleydale as obviously there is no connection with Mr. Winton there. As for "Kraft" I'd discarded that as whichever way you slice it the comedic impact is minimal. You're probably both thinking that hasn't stopped me in the past. ROD- Some Bargains About
I'd agree with the "frightening prices". Just had a quick look tonight and I saw no bargains. Only time you get something "cheap" is if no one else wants it and if it's in demand it don't matter how many copies are floating about. Last 45 I got was Archie Bell "I can't stop dancing" on a WDJ M-. $10 + $8 postage. That was f**king £12 for a £5 45 if that. ROD- Frederick Hymes
I usually restrict the cheese jokes to midweek. As I was only recently saying to Mr. Winton "Only on a Wendnesly. Dale" ROD- Frederick Hymes
I do try to curd it but sometimes there's just no whey. ROD- Nests Of Vipers
This site has nothing on that of the Chartered Accountant Forum. A nest of adders!! ROD PS I'd like to publicly disassociate myself from this feeble pun as it falls way above my usual standard- Frederick Hymes
The West coast is Double Gloucester and the East is Stilton. Do you Americans know nothing about records!!! And I'd tread caerphilly before making any smart-ass replies as Im running out of puns. ROD- Frederick Hymes
Simple to tell. If it's got a small "45" next to "Okeh" logo with a delta # beginning with 9854763027 pressed on styrene with a moulded label, unless it's a paper label from the pressing done on the Tuesday cos the lady who sorted the labels was undergoing a hysterectomy, and when you hold it up to the light you go blind and it's made of cheese.... Then it's deffo a boot. ROD- Tim Browns...feb Auction
Im confused. What's the beef with Tim's auction. Is it that he doesn't publicly publish on the site what the 45 went for? Is it that he doesn't inform the non-winners or that you are not kept up to date on current bids if you are participating. As far as I can see as long as there is an end price and you are aware you've been outbid it's as good an auction as any. If you didn't take part even that is of no concern. I understand transparency. I've only took part in John's auction once and I knew I'd won when he sent me an email. As Im a bit of a technophobe I've no idea whether I could see number of bids on one of John's auctions or watch online how it proceeded. All I knew was that I had top bid. Gotta admit I was a bit shocked [but then Im a pretty straight-laced type of person] when I found out it appeared to be common knowledge that Ebay auctions were sometimes manipulated in the seller's favour. I mentioned this a couple of years back when I figured out I'd been outbid by the seller on a 45 I was about to win and which I did when the seller re-listed it a couple of weeks later. He even gave himself feedback on the fictitious sale. ROD- A Few Wants Please , Wont Do Offers Etc
You stick to your guns,Vince. Too much "I saw this go for that" on here but of course failing to mention that the buyer was mentally deficient!! I do think Mark has a point though. If you put what you want to pay it keeps the "sharks" away. I've posted a couple of wants in the past and can't be doing with being quoted ridiculous prices along lines of Manny has it at X but you can have it at X-1. Im in no rush to pay over the odds. ROD- Need To Contact - Mr M Nichols
He's bound to get in touch at some stage when his order fails to show up. I don't know if with Data Protection etc you could just phone bank shown on his cheque and ask them to contact him. Along lines of "I have cheque # whatever for this a/c" ROD- Frank Wilson-do I Love You (soul)
Yes I think posting what you want to pay is fair enough and would do away with buyers and sellers taking the p**s. If you offer someone a 45 at set sale though they don't have to take it if the price is "too steep" Someone else may sell it cheaper. You're probably referring more there to trying to get something for nothing. ROD- Daft Question
Not Me. The wonders of today's technology tend to pass me by. ROD- Daft Question
Or you could ignore me and do a much more professional job!! ROD- Daft Question
Here's a man with more money than sense!! Go in kitchen cupboard and find a cup. In my experience most upside down mugs cover the label and just draw round it and cut it out. Sellotape in run-out groove. Invent artist of same gender as vocal e.g Melvin Washington, Gloria Jackson. Add a group if you can hear one. Write on blank label before fixing to record or write on sleeve if using a pretty picture out of magazine. Did you never watch "Blue Peter"? ROD- Frank Wilson-do I Love You (soul)
I think you may be a bit unfair there. If I say has anybody got "X" 45 for sale I then wouldn't expect to be inundated with requests for me to make an offer. I think "for sale" implies a set price. When selling it's either set sale, offers or auction so I can't see why it should be any different when buying. ROD - Jackie Day "naughty Boy"
