I remember reading that as well and then hunting for a Bo-Ro soundfile to compare it with my Ninandy WD...can't recall if there was much of a difference...my Ninandy copy plays loud and proud, no problems. Persoanlly, I've always wondered if the Deadbeats/Roy Roberts ever heard each others recordings as there is a similarity there!

I blame mine on the Hinckley leisure all nighters sound system...stupidly loud and always distorted Or maybe it is because I press my headphones firmly against my head to really appreciate the bass lines in tracks I hear the occasional Oldie/Classic 'out of context' at the collectors nights over here (no dancefloor, but curry and pizza available!), and you can defo hear different qualities within the track that one may have missed before.

There's more info about the various tracks Dave Burton recorded on Larry Hammond on Soul-Source within the following thread: They are not vintage at-the-time recordings...recorded less than 10 years ago...Larry is basically singing over instrumentals. Larry is a Jazz drummer still performing gigs in and around Hong Kong...just tap his name into Google and you'll find pictures of him.

This one also appeared on a plain orange Mickays label with italic 'Mickays' across the top...and of course on Scepter (only red stock copies?) How about his version of 'Day Tripper'...love it...here's x3 WDs off my shelves:

Here's the other side to the situation: Salvo has been collecting this genre for a long time...said that he has had it for 20 years and never come across another copy. - If someone wants to buy it at his valuation, then great, hopefully both parties will be happy - If it turns out to be a readily available, then Salvo has put his reputation on the line by rating it at 500 Euros He has offered a refund if not satisfied., so if you simply want the info to type into a search engine in order to try and find more copies cheaper, buy it and return it.? Simply revealing all the info makes it all 'too easy'...where is the challenge/fun as a collector!?! Discuss...or if the MODS consider this a topic in it's own right, feel free to move this post.

I recall Dave Conway from London played it at the 100 Club mid-90's. Rare disc and maybe not one for the stomper brigade, but catchy and pleasant...inna 'Not too long ago' style as pointed out by Bri.

Oddly enough I was offered one last weekend (mint), but backed away after seeing the prices on Popsike ($669, $655, $522) over the last few months. After the poor Yen to £UK exchange rate it left me no margin, so passed on it.

I have all the Jay & Techniques mentioned and the Swinging Medallions titles on Japanese Mercury...worth a mention!?!

For me, if this disc was discovered today it wouldn't reach DJ decks as on home Hi-Fi it is as poppy as something that is really poppy!! HOWEVER, thankfully it was discovered many moons ago and a lot of us first heard it booming out of a club PA...PURE atmospheric Northern! Maybe?
