  1. I don't think the Beeb filmed this one , historical footage used although there is 2 maybe 3 documentaries covering the disco scene on the iPlayer at the moment & I was also surprised at the claim too , but it came from a guy who was very much involved with the Philly scene at the time , don't want to spoil it for those that haven't yet watched it .
  2. It should go to Auction really , one of those starting at 99p , which would probably reveal it's true worth , or demand at this present time .
  3. 1st , Johnny Benavidez and Cold Diamond & Mink , Do What You Wanna Do , Timmion . 2nd ,Thee Sacred Souls , Running Away , Penrose . 3rd , Johnny Benavidez and Cold Diamond & Mink , Slow Down Girl , Penrose . 4th , The Sextones , Love Can't Be Borrowed , Record Kicks . 5th , Latasha Lee , I Don't Want You ,I.M.G. Records . Only shared the one , didn't want to flood the topic , but all 5 brilliant !
  4. Thanks Tim, That has to be the most honest appraisal , description , like or dislike , call it what you like of any record ever, played on planet earth under the banner of Northern Soul , sheer brilliance .
  5. Hi Dax , have pm'd
  6. Mines in the post , cheers Rick for the heads up . Sure this would have gone down a storm at the 6ts & most probably any other 60s dance club , just looked at their Fan club web site and in 2006 they worked with the late great Andre Williams , not to be sniffed at .
  7. All our Xmas plans have been postponed, not for any bad reasons , so just the 2 of us decided we're not going to bother with a Turkey and all the trimmings , gone for a Rib roast with YPs and a winter roast instead, cheese board & yes Xmas pudding creme brulee 1 big one to share , so no bread sauce for us this year 😭
  8. Just for the fun side side of things tasteful , instead of Cranberry sauce with your Turkey as anyone ever tried Winberrey or chuckleberry sauce , both red and very nice , I think they're possibly the same berry that grow wild in places like the moorlands of Shrewsbury , ie The Stiperstones , very nice .
  9. And marmalade, without the brown sauce lol
  10. Once again Soul Source Store deliver the goods even at this time of year, on time , a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year to Mike & the team
  11. As you may have guessed from my posts on this topic , I'm a bit of a cook and love experimenting with different flavours etc , about 25 yrs ago my wife told me I had to get rid of some of my 2k cookbooks , as our dining room was looking more like a Library than a dining room , but said I was allowed to keep my 100 favourites, and I hid this one in my favourite baking book , a freebie from at the NEC holiday show about 30 yrs ago , open your mind , lol .
  12. Even better if you lightly toast the bread , but either way , delicious, just add black pepper, the bacon's salty enough lol .
  13. Try a bacon butty with marmalade , delicious.
  14. I'm pretty sure our European members here on Source will have the answer .
  15. Hi Rick, As you say great dancer , but possibly very big on the Popcorn scene , hence the European reissue etc .
  16. We here in the midlands ( although I am a Northerner who married a midlander ) have always gone for the Xmas traditional Roast Turkey , with all of the trimmings inc. roast potatoes & parsnips , sprouts , carrots etc , bread sauce the lot , but could I get the kids to eat Xmas pudding never , so then ( I think I created it because at the time 25 yrs ago I'd never come across or scene a recipe for it ) The Xmas pudding creme brulee , now it's a must have and never any leftovers in our house, even the Grandkids love it too.
  17. I totally agree , lots of the big venues djs would break a record on the dance floor , get a copy made Emidisc usually and sell the original for a profit , the dance floor was still full and nobody cared , because most of the attendees where fuelled up and just wanted to dance , and enjoy themselves .
  18. Just watched part 1, didn't expect to hear " The Carstairs, It really Hurts Me Girl " and interesting the fact that the first tune that was classed as the first real disco record was " Harold Melvin & The Blues Notes , The Love I Lost " ,thanks for the heads up Davemac3 , everydays a school day as the saying goes .
  19. Don't think as yet had a mention , flipped it tonight , The Accents , New Girl &
  20. Was looky enough to see this guy performing in Rhyl about 75ish . Wayne Fontana ,we popped over for the night like you used to in those days from Blackpool , Bob Blackwood , Howard Wilson , Rob Laird ,Tony etc , in What was then the vehicle to own , a real cruiser , A Toyota Crown Custom , and was treated to a wonderful set of blue eyed soul , this tune amongst so many soul classics stood out like no other , and what a tune , I was only 17teen at the time but what a lasting impression,,,,,
  21. How can we possibly follow that , brilliant, here we go stay on the dance floor , keep them mince pies warm ! Wishing you all a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year .
  22. Here's another 2 that I'm lucky to have in my collection, both on UK white label promos , Ike & Tina Turner , Somebody ( Somewhere) Needs You , Warner bros . Jimmy James & The Vagabonds , This Heart O Mine , Piccadilly
  23. Hi Mal , Have Pmd Cheers Dave
  24. If you where there at the Casino when this was packing the floor , and then released on a Disco Demand 45 , what a tune so atmospheric and still no version better Ila Van , Can't Help Loving That Man Of Mine , check out the record credits they go all the way back to 1928 , Helen Morgan , from the musical "Showboat " written by Oscar Hammerstein & Jerome Kern , a little bit Doctor Who don't you think , imagine if they had a time machine , " Why are all these kids up so late , wide awake and dancing shouldn't they be at home in bed " lol
