  1. 1970's Bootleg/repress has Delta # 101778 in the run out.
  2. Crazy price, just shows what hype can do! As you will probably know, the Thunderbird release is a 1970's USA reissue made many years after the original 1960's Charger release. It's a bit like the early 1970's reissue of Dickie Wonder that was released on Golden Triangle label to coincide with the release of The Free Angela Davis L.P. Another USA reissue made several years after the original mid 60's Sound of Soul label originals. It mystifies me why people pay a lot of money for them instead of going for the originals!!
  3. I think the coming of the internet ruined the proper underground Northern Soul scene. It's never been the same since around year 2000! That's when it started to change. But it can't be uninvented, so we are stuck with all the online commercialism and people who have just about learned it all from their online computer/phone. I feel the real Northern Soul scene is slipping away and we are more and more left with the description in your example No 1.

The UK single is 1966. The USA L.P. is 1967. Looks like the UK single was the first issue of this great record! It's a pity there is no original USA 45 single.

"Worth Every Tear I Cry" came out in the USA on this Mercury LP. Lots of great tracks on there!

The topic is not about what Northern Soul is!! The post topic is this!! "I'm gonna be quite detailed here, I'm interested in seeing a list of northern soul uk only 45s? Predominantly 60’s and some 70’s. a list of 45s that are uk only, no foreign release or USA,no album tracks, and an original song for that particular artist!"

I'm no UK label or foreign release expert so some of these may not fit your category. I Wanna Know - John E Paul - Decca When I'm Gonna Find Her - Mark Lloyd Parlophone. The Beautiful Night - Jimmy Thomas - Parlophone. Don't Pity Me - Sue Lynn - RCA Lost Summer Love - Lorraine Silver - Pye. Love is Wonderful -Paula Parfit - Beacon. One Minute Every Hour - John Miles - Orange. I Feel So Bad - Jackie Edwards - Island. Bok To Back - Fathers Angels - MGM Just some of the top of my head, hope some are some use to you. Some probably did come out somewhere other than UK!
  8. This Joe Tex west coast demo looks right in every way! Monarch press with the right numbers and styrene profile etc. Also if it isn't an original, why is it very scarce!
  9. Interesting pictures and label variations. The Joe Tex "You Better Believe It Baby" looks good, is it the west coast demo? I remember when this was a big record in Wigan Casino, played 2 or 3 times in the night, for several weeks! Nice original of Arnold Bryant with the two rings around Mercury. First heard Brooks & Jerry in Wigan when Dave Evison played it. He said "If you used to go to the Wheel you'll know this one, if you didn't, don't worry about the beginning"!

"I'll Never Say Goodbye". The Vontastics - Satellite. Original first issue of this great Chicago group Northern soul record. Mint- Label slightly off centre, but nice and clean. £125 plus postage. SOLD. "If Your Mother Only Knew" Miracles - Tamla. Original first issue. £30 plus postage. Ex condition but has a few very light clicks at the start. Still a very enjoyable record to listen to. "Come On Train"- Don Thomas - DJM. £20 plus post. Original UK first issue in excellent condition, but the centre piece has been removed. Wigan Casino classic and still packing the floors now!
  11. Good flip side as well!

Just about every great record that had ever been played on the Northern Soul scene since it's inception up until 1980, got played at Wigan Casino at one time or another. Yes there were some bad records played, but overall the great far outweighed the bad!
  13. Crazy price £431 for Edward Hamilton on the New York label Jameco! I could understand it a little better if it was on either of the Detroit original labels. Mary Jane or the LaBeat connected, orange coloured Carrie label.
  14. I used those 1960's green stiff paper USA sleeves. They are so rough paper they were like fine sandpaper against my records. Micro scratching them every time I removed them from the sleeves!
  15. It's a nice record that has been played on the scene from time to time, but that price is just extracting the Michael! Also I am beginning to hate it when sellers on ebay use the A.I. option to make the descriptions on items for sale. It creates a massive load of unnecessary waffle😠
  16. Great Northern Soul classic. Original first edition issue. USA 45rpm Condition is Mint- £125 includes fully insured postage. The label pressed slightly off centre, record plays spot on.
  17. So that means every rare record must have crap vocal's! That's why nobody wanted to buy it! So now we know why Ty Karim and The Cashmeres, for example, never sold many records!!!

It's good quality styrene like Columbia ZTSC and Monarch etc. Not poor quality like Blue Rock and the blue label Philips! As you will probably know, a mint styrene can be a lot better sound quality than some vinyls. As long as you only play them sparingly at home. No so good for busy dj's. who will persist in backtracking when they cue up a record. No need for it!

Bargain of the list was the Wooden Nickels "Nobody But You" on Omen. Proper, storming allnighter Northern Soul!
  20. Well if you don't like the record that's ok, but stop trying to spoil it for people who do like it!
  21. Looks to me like two things have emerged from this topic. 1. Nobody has any answer to the original question. 2. And a lot of people seem to want to hate "I'll Forgive and Forget" by Ron Holden. Oh happy day's!
  22. The vinyl yellow label Age Of Bronze is a later issue. Guava 103. It was graded as warped in the auction. The styrene Gold label issue is the first issue. Guava 102.
  23. That's an scathing review of the record. You've gone way off-topic. It was about issue copies from a collectors point of view, not about if you like the record or not which ends up being very negative. Overall the record has a great production, the verve and excitement that's created more than make up for any faults. These records were made for young vibrant people who wanted a good time and to dance. Not for us old timers and pensioners to dissect and analyze them for their artistic merits!
  24. "Such A Pretty Thing/ I Fooled you this Time" - Gene Chandler - Checker Original first edition USA 45rpm. Mint - £25 plus £4 postage.
  25. In all the years I have never seen an issue copy, apart from those modern look-a-likes. It would be amazing to find a real issue copy!
