Records signed by Artists
I agree with this post about autographs on rare soul records, if anything, lowering the price of the record. Personally I collect Northern Soul original records in the best condition I can get them. Not with writing on the labels. I don't collect autographs, but the good autographs I do have are in a note book. We used to take this to venues where artists were performing.

Top quality 70's record from the famous Gwen Owens💫

If there were two very rare identical mint records on a table and you could have only one, would you pick the one with writing on the label or the one that is totally clean?

Cheapie recommendations Northern/crossover
"Hey Babe"- The Joneses- Mercury. Great 70's soulful dancer from Lee Valentine. VMP. Still a low price for an original. Imagine if this was very, very rare and Mr Soul Sam was playing it! They would be all after it!😊

casino classics question
I always think the 1970's UK Grapevine label was the true Casino Classic label! All the releases were based on the Casino play lists.

ZZ Hill "You Just Cheat And Lie" Kent. Great record and usually a reasonable price!

If a record is in near mint condition and then someone/anyone writes on the label, it has now been defaced! That makes it of less value to me. There is plenty of paper for autographs, no need to deface records.

WANTED - Mamie Lee (MGM K 13850)
A lot of soul MGM releases are rarer on the black issues. Regarding the Mamie Lee, both issue and demo are nice, but the yellow demos are slightly harder to find than the issues.

These three Timothy Wilsons on Buddah. "Just Another Guy" on a string. "Pigtails" in her hair. "Loving You" They don't go for a lot of money, but brilliant records!💫

The Term "Mecca floaters"
"Cashing In" - Voices Of East Harlem - Just Sunshine. "You're Gone"- Celeste Hardy - Reynolds. "Can't Live Without You" Connie Laverne - GSF and many more💫

Frankie and Johnny “ I’ll Hold You”
Declon refers to this record as being a Decca recording. It was issued on Decca in the UK. As far as I remember, all the originals have "A Declon Recording" written under the names of Frankie and Johnny.

The Superiors- All i need is half a chance
I like that alternate version, I think it would sound good, loud in a venue! I first heard Rosey Jones played as a "cover up". It was titled as "All I Need Is Half A Chance" by Carlos Monroe, when Richard Searling started playing it at the Casino.

Teddy and the Finger Poppers is ok, but I much prefer Cliff Nobles version on Phil La of Soul!

Collection selling
Keep them! Don't sell your soul😊! I am enjoying the money, buying great records💫 If I sold my records, the money would just flitter away on this and that semi-meaningless things!

What was your first boot?
When I first got started with Northern, I just wanted the records to play and wasn't bothered about the label. I sent for a Monster sound at Wigan at that time, Dana Valery "You Don't Know where Your Interest Lies" When it came it was an Emi disc with six tracks on it. Dana Valery "You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies", Pointer Sisters "Send Him Back", Len Barry "I'll Always Need You", Lynn Varnado "Wash And Wear Love", Bernard Pretty Purdie "Fickle Finger Of Fate and Phil Loman "Rock Me, Till I Want No More" Phil Loman was another very big tune back then and the others were all a bonus!

Brian Rae RiP
That's very sad news. A true gentleman and a great entertaining DJ. He could really get the dance floor packed and just knew what to play next!

Is This A Boot
The copy in your picture has far too many run in grooves on the outside before the record starts. The originals have normal run groove spacing, as shown in this picture.

Monarch Records - ever in vinyl?
Just checked the vinyl Wade Flemons record I posted the pictures of earlier in this topic. It only has the delta and number then further around the runout area it has the MR stamp in a circle. Can not see an Alco stamp on either side.
